the flags are for you to put up when you have mail you want to send out.
I don't get why they have those in America. Couldn't anyone just go up and steal the mail?

The in door ones are nearly universal over the UK, I've not seen a single outdoor standing mailbox thing for houses here.

I was pretty drunk and high, pretty fucked up in the late evening and I hadn't got the mail, I look outside and some emo fuck is pulling my netflix out.
I chased him in only my pants with a knife in one hand screaming, he fucking dropped it and ran. I ended up lost and pissed on someones garage door.

They have lock door things you can put inside. Good thing too I almost on accident stole my neighbors mail a few times because I thought it was my mailbox

I remember when I was little and we were sending cookies to my grandma, I was afraid that UPS was going to eat them :v:
My mailbox is right next to my front door mounted on the wall. Not a burden to check when I come home.

Had mailboxes in front of our houses here on my street when the houses were first built
Now we all have locked mailboxes at the end of the street
I'd rather risk having my fucking mail stolen, if I'm honest, than try to put a shoddy key into a ever-increasingly rusty lock due to the salt air (I'm about 100 yards from the Bay on the Florida Panhandle)
Not only that, if you have a package, they stick it in one of the larger boxes below them, and put the key in your mailbox, but those keys all match all the boxes, so it's just a stupid way to do more rounds in less time to use less fuel for the post office, yet doesn't really help prevent the theft of mail as you could just take a flathead screw driver, a hammer, and with one knock, open each mailbox, one after the other
In fact, it's easier to steal mail from the locked boxes because they're all right there together, and they're very easy to force open

In CA there was a big mailbox at the end of each street. It had 4x4 individual mailboxes that required and each required a lock to open it. The 1st box out of the 16 had a slit for all outgoing mail.
Here in PA its just a crappy mailbox like the one in the video.
