I hate it when Horror games have to resort to jump scares.

It doesn't resort to jump scares, there are many other types of scares in it.
Yeah there's a bunch of jump scares in CoF, but there's plenty of other types of scares to balance it out.

Most of them aren't particularly subtle though, and the enemies are literally programmed to jump-scare you.
It does get really intense in some bits where you're getting chased though.
Anticipation scares me, when I predict things are going to happen I tend not to continue, I'm I get scared easily.
I posted a video of me playing that part with commentary on facebook for my friends and they said they've never heard me scream like the way I did in the video ever before. They were laughing at me but admitted that that part made them jump too.

Yeah that first level is a bitch, the rest of the game is much scarier though, just in a more tense way
