I think Myth Busters did an episode on sneaky break-ins to museums with a vent section and magnets. Long story short: It would've been more covert if you'd use a bulldozer to clear a way to the loot.

You do realise the sound may as well have been added in post, and the actual vent barely made any sound/wasn't that audible outside of the ventshaft?

Im sure there is a way to make vent crawling less noisy. If you stick your weight towards the edges of it and move very slowly without picking up limbs (sliding) it could be quiet.
