bitching about shitty game review and why it's shitty for about 5 minutes. basically "PC Gamer" reviews being a massive disservice to PC gaming consumers.

if pc gamer (or whoever i end up reviewing in the future) ever wrote an article reviewing this review of their review i would die shitting
so i implore them
really well made, you know what youre talking about.
please do not be fooled, i am an idiot. the (pc gamer) review just really is written that poorly.
really well made, you know what youre talking about.
I expected a non-edited video with a shitty mic quality and was delighted at how wrong I was. Really well made, I would love to see more.
I doubt the journalists themselves will really care about any critique as long as they're getting clicks on their website, a lot of people these days just rely on their friends' or favorite "youtubers" opinions instead.
Maybe the PC in "PC Gamer" now stands for Politically Correct?
Judging from the whining about the Genocider at least

If that would happen Keemstar would make a video about GradeA making a video about you and that video.

Isn't all mainstream game journalism PC now?
Interesting concept, I'd watch review reviews as a thing.
Couple tips - put your mic a bit to the side (or get a pop filter) so the 'p' and other plosives don't make as much of a boom, if you still get them in a take you want to use, kill everything sub 60hz on where the sound occurs, makes it bearable even if your mouth explodes all over the mic. Also normalize your final volume level, it's quite low at the moment.
This is also barely legible, either darken the background, or use a shadow or a stroke to separate white text from it.
This concludes my review review review, I give your review review 859/1000. Subbed.

thanks for the mic/sound tip. on that second part fuck me for overcompensating for youtube making dark backgrounds barely fucking noticeable, i realized it after uploading.

instead of outright normalizing (and this depends on his software too) using a compressor can work better, de-esser's work really well for getting rid of sibilants and if you use make-up gain can also get the audio normalized fairly well. Hell, using a compressor makes the normalization even more "true" since it decreases the distance between peaks (pops, sibilants, etc) and valleys

The more I watch, the more I agree on getting a pop filter. compression does help loads too. If you need more help with getting something like that configured, lmk.
High quality video though. I used to love PC Gamer magazine but their quality has really dropped off as of late. The website has especially gone into clickbait territory.
pls make more vids kthx
Great video, I hope this becomes a series.
this, is a clever idead because alot a review sites are shit

i mean, i assumed he had a compressor somewhere in the chain already cause why wouldn't you
you can compress and still export with a low level
I'm definitely not the first to point this out, but it seems most game reviews nowadays are done with an agenda in mind, rather than actually making an effort to critique a video game based on its own merits.
Really sad that it seems like every aspect of society is being put under a biased magnifying glass nowadays.

True - I'm coming from the standpoint of music production too so the toolset is different. That and I wrote a couple articles for some cheap-ass education site (they never paid me lol) about compression so it's just something I like to talk about (and bring up unnecessarily tbqh)
Its still something I find a lot of people forget, or vastly misunderstand though. A lot of compressors automatically apply make-up gain and don't have very good visualizations of their effects, so its easy to misunderstand what a compressor is even for (it seems to make things louder), let alone begin to be able to use its settings and such etc etc
this is what i needed
