I like how people specifically at mad at him for wasting what could be considered a very small amount of food compared to restaurants or grocers who just throw away food because they can't sell it.
He's doing it for views/hits and money. He's wasting it but it's for this little e-job he has going. Plenty of people waste food for no reason.

Honestly, I watched some of this guy's videos. It was hilarious the first two videos, but it really lost its effect, oh, I don't know, 50 videos in of pretty much the exact same thing.

The point I'm making is that it's being put to a use. But the one watermelon he's wasting is nothing to the millions wasted per year around the country.
We'd rather criticize this guy because he's doing something we find stupid for money than make a statement about all the others doing it but not for a paycheck.

The ratings are an indicator of what is popular/liked. This is a way of nurturing good content while attempting to filter the unwanted, which comes to include jokes that have outlived their humorousness. That's the thing with jokes; they are only funny the first few times people see/hear them. Try telling the same joke to the same group of people a couple of times in a week and see if people will still find it funny? Even if it's a meme whose humor lies in repetition with the right context it can only be funny so many times.
