Do note that this isn't by Valve, but rather a third party.

It's probably for use with in-home streaming like the nvidia shield.

According to the Norwegian article I found this in, it'll be a bit worse then a 3ds/Vita, but yet can play most steam games?
Info around this thing is a bit weird.

if you stick an intel atom in it and use a display like the vita (qHD) it could probably handle games at vita-like quality, and also be useful for in-game streaming

If it uses in-home streaming then the "portable" aspect of it is moot. I guess there could be a niche market that would love to stream the game from their beefy pc onto a tiny screen in another room but for most people I don't see much use of this. Now if it can run lighter/older titles stand-alone it could be a decent machine. Especially if it's open for modding and homebrews. If it is specced like vita but cheaper it could be good.

It has been done before though. There's the Open Pandora, the GCW Zero, the Dingoo (everyone installs linux on these anyway)
Cool trailer, when does it hit the box offices?

<> is C/C++ for does not equal. Given the pace of the Tegras & other ARM chips, I think we'll see a good system.
All this is is a cheap portable steam machine.
Steam machines don't need power, they just need a good screen and an excellent internet connection. The thing is basically a better NVidia shield since it does none of the processing on it's side, just tethers to your computer.

I have disgraced the GNU gods by mixing it up with the .NET peasants.
My penance is manually building Boost support for C++11
as long as it can play small games like Spelunky or Binding of Isaac this'll be pretty great. I've been thinking of getting a Vita for that reason but with this I wouldn't have to buy those games all over again.

- Low Cost
- Good Specs
- Compact Design
Pick two

Please our merciful lord Stallman by contributing 1000 lines to the GNU operating system and 600 lines to emacs. Also recite the GNU/Linux interjection 30 times.
Looks interesting whether it's fake or real. It's just that looks at the PS Vita which has great technology, graphics, dual analog sticks & has a decent library of games. Compare that to the 3DS which sold a lot more & no fancy graphics. I just don't think a portable steamboy would sell well, you can get indie games on consoles now & great multi-platform games on the next gen consoles already.
Feels as dramatic as a Call of Duty trailer!
