It's always pained me to see RP in ArmA. It always had potential to be cool but never ends up being so due to inane rules needed to control their population of people with superiority complexes and zero self-awareness, who always have access to guns, and cheese it at every opportunity either by invoking, circumventing or disregarding said rules

I remember playing on a server like this with some friends and fucking around and the cops would take their jobs so seriously. They had like a 6 month recruitment/probation timelimit in which they had to act 100% serious and like cops all the time

Yeah, roleplaying in games is better in a context other than "be a normal person but hey here's a gun with a suppressor and a scope and nvgs and a tactical vest and lots of nefarious activities to justify their inclusion so don't bother being a civilian", and better with people you know or at least know are going to have fun with it without taking it [I]seriously[/I]

It's not a roleplaying problem, it's an ArmA 3 problem. People want to roleplay in a fucking military simulator kind of game. Tbh I've put in a couple hundred hours on various types of RP in Garry's Mod and MTA:SA trying out roleplay and it can be pretty okay, but the game makes the gamemode.

I tried RP in ArmA 3 but it is pretty damn obvious how the game was not meant to be played that way, sure they made mods but it felt awkward. Still though, they are gathering hundreds of players so i guess it works for most people.

Well for the most part i think RP is just when you pretend to do a job for the sake of immersion so you can delve yourself deeper in a (online) game and then you got this ArmA 3 RP which only takes it away because if poor you is walking on the wrong side of the street a fleet of police is standing by to "inspect" you because of suspicious behavior.
Its the same as darkrp for gmod, its just that kids and autists flock to it for some reason. I never fathomed how popular these servers are because they're full of annoying children with superiority complexes and little in the way of rp or gameplay
