Regardless what someone believes, you don't alienate the viewing audience with your politic or religious views like that when you're hosting a major award ceremony, that's a given, you just don't. But I think by the end he knew his bridges were burnt to the ground, so he poured gas on the rubble and pissed on the ashes. I loved it and much respect to the man for doing it.
