meme without the e would just be 'mem', but if you add what's known as a 'magic e' to the end, you change it to [I]mee-mm[/I].

To be fair, meme is one of those words you wouldn't really know how to say without knowing, the silent e is a bit of a through-off.

I'ts like how every 13 year I've ever met in Garry's mod can't pronounce my name. Instead of who-mo-be-ill or who-mo-bi-el they say whom-mo-ble or something equally as retarded.
