*swerves across 3 lanes* "Holy shit this guy is not paying attention man" "...but look at that tho"
I'm too certain that accident was caused by the driver staring at the rocket as well
Welcome to California, where people will drive like this because a paper bag fluttered up or something, let alone a rocket.
*swerves across 3 lanes* "Holy shit this guy is not paying attention man" "...but look at that tho"
what... Would you have rather he just keep driving forward and T-bone the dipshit who just slammed the back of the guy next to him?
what... Would you have rather he just keep driving forward and T-bone the dipshit who just slammed the back of the guy next to him?
he was moving at 22mph and had sufficient space to brake, also the white car was the one that got rammed
he was moving at 22mph and had sufficient space to brake, also the white car was the one that got rammed
You're being a bit dim. The car that got hit swerved directly into his lane in front of him. His swerving out of the way was actually the better choice as if he had suddenly hit the brakes anyone behind him not paying attention may have rear-ended him as well. Why do you think the other car got hit in the first place?? Because people were slowing down and people going highway speeds weren't paying attention to the people ahead of them. Also, if you try to swerve while braking you actually can't turn, you'll just keep going straight, just thought I would mention that.
he was moving at 22mph and had sufficient space to brake, also the white car was the one that got rammed
This is embarrassing, do you actually have a driving license?
the lady going "CONCENTRATE ON YOUR DRIVING" then immediately after continuing to be like WOOOOW WHAT IS THAT is a bit infuriating
The guy who got hit didn't seem to do anything wrong from what I could tell at least. Him slowing down was a result of the person slowing down in front of him, and from what I could tell there was ample amount of time for whoever was behind him to have reacted to the brake lights and properly slowed down. I'm assuming they were going the limit or above and was staring at the rocket not paying attention to the car in front of him. Unless I'm just not seeing it could someone clear it up? Not justifying a bunch of rubbernecking but this crap happens all the time on the road, though it's more justified when it looks like an alien ship just came to earth [editline]24th December 2017[/editline] Oh you're all debating the main cam driver nevermind lol
*swerves across 3 lanes* "Holy shit this guy is not paying attention man" "...but look at that tho"
O.K. bullshit conjecture aside.. And ignoring the possibility that the driver had enough awareness in the traffic in his right-most lane and could safely pull over when the accident occurred. . . . . . What the fuck is that in the sky?
he was moving at 22mph and had sufficient space to brake, also the white car was the one that got rammed
Yeah man he should have totally just stopped in the middle of traffic over an accident that doesn't involve him and clog the road up, possibly causing more accidents good thinking
O.K. bullshit conjecture aside.. And ignoring the possibility that the driver had enough awareness in the traffic in his right-most lane and could safely pull over when the accident occurred. . . . . . What the fuck is that in the sky?
SpaceX rocket?
he was moving at 22mph and had sufficient space to brake, also the white car was the one that got rammed
Ahh, yes, the classic 'Someone next to me just got rear-ended by an inattentive dipshit, so let me come to a complete stop and let the inattentive dipshit behind me run into me as well!' line of thinking. Protip: Stopping is not always the best solution for a roadside emergency. In this case, cammer guy did exactly what he needed to do to avoid being hit himself, it's what I would have done, indeed what any driver worth holding a license would have done. Stopping in the roadway is the single most hazardous thing you can possibly do and if it is at all possible you must avoid doing so. Change course, go around the obstacle, don't stop and become the obstacle. You stop? You're going to get hit as well.
O.K. bullshit conjecture aside.. What the fuck is that in the sky?
The recent Space-X launch. The first bit we see is the main lifter, the first stage, firing. The pause in the plume is MECO, stage seperation, and stage 2 firing. The reason the plume is so readily visible is because it's shortly after nightfall on the surface where the camera is located, but the rocket itself has flown high enough to be in direct sunlight again, and the sunlight reflecting off the particles in the exhaust of the rocket against an otherwise unlit night sky make it incredibly easy to see. There's a detailed breakdown in the thread about the launch in SH, go poke in there and have a look, even explains why the plume is shaped the way it's shaped.

He witnessed and recorded a crash but didn't it didn't even slightly cross his mind to pull over and help or provide evidence? That's kinda sad
He witnessed and recorded a crash but didn't it didn't even slightly cross his mind to pull over and help or provide evidence? That's kinda sad
Yeah was just thinking that, pretty fucking shitty of him honestly
Nothing sad about it. There could have been a hundred reasons why he didn't stop and even if there isn't one he is in no way obligated to stop.
Exactly. I probably wouldn't have stayed behind either. There's....not really much need for his video to provide evidence here, the damage on the cars is enough that even a rookie who barely managed to graduate the academy by one point could figure out what happened in a matter of minutes by looking at the damaged vehicles, and with how many lanes are blocked by the wreckage guaranteed someone's gonna call 911 if for no other reason just so someone scrapes the wreckage off the highway.
I don‘t know how it is in the US but in many european countries not helping in an accident can land you in jail
I don‘t know how it is in the US but in many european countries not helping in an accident can land you in jail
In North America you can witness a murder and not do anything and nothing will happen, I mean its generally kind of shitty if you don't at least call the police, but if you decide not to, like if multiple people are around its safe to assume someone else will. and nothing bad would happen to you.
I don‘t know how it is in the US but in many european countries not helping in an accident can land you in jail
idk about witnessing something and not staying here in nz, but here if you rear end someone you're at fault 100% of the time. you should always be aware of whats happening in front of you and be able to brake without a collision under all weather conditions and speeds. so if you smack into someones car-butt, you've obviously failed at that.
He witnessed and recorded a crash but didn't it didn't even slightly cross his mind to pull over and help or provide evidence? That's kinda sad
On highways like that it would be more dangerous for him to stop.
idk about witnessing something and not staying here in nz, but here if you rear end someone you're at fault 100% of the time. you should always be aware of whats happening in front of you and be able to brake without a collision under all weather conditions and speeds. so if you smack into someones car-butt, you've obviously failed at that.
The problem with a black-and-white 'Car with front end damage is at fault' policy is it unfairly punishes the victims of swoop-n-squad insurance frauds. There's not much you can do to avoid it if you're minding your own business on the freeway and some numpty swerves in front of you with ten feet to spare and slams on their brakes with the intention of getting hit so they can scam your insurance out of a few thousand bucks. It's rare, but it happens enough that such black-and-white policies are dumb and should not be practiced in a western society.
Nothing sad about it. There could have been a hundred reasons why he didn't stop and even if there isn't one he is in no way obligated to stop.
That's just incredible. In Denmark, that would be a very clear violation of Straffelovens (Criminal Law's) § 250 which states that you are obligated to help someone out if they are in danger. Failure to do so lands you a max of 8 years in jail. People who leave the scene of an accident (not even as a hit and run, we're talking witnesses as well) can be prosecuted for leaving the scene. I didn't know US laws were like this.
he was moving at 22mph and had sufficient space to brake, also the white car was the one that got rammed
Don't ever drive a car.
