Fucking hell I need to buy this. Protoss are my favorite in the StarCraft lore.
that archon sequence was fucking baller
Still bummed it's ending on Protoss. It's great for people who like them, but the finale's about my least favorite race :c

Holy hell that was awesome. Can't wait. [sp]Fuckin' proxy pylon cheese strat l2p skrub[/sp]
Another game in November!? :disgust:
Hey! At least XCOM 2 got moved [sp]to February [/sp] :frown:

Man, Blizzard makes some of the best cinematics in videogames :wow:
Why's the video quality so low god damnit
Oh man, November is going to be a rad month.

Keep in mind. Even though this will mark the end of the Prophecy trilogy or whatever people are calling it, I'm sure 10 years from now we'll be seeing a Starcraft 3 that takes place back on Earth with the UED fucks probably getting a really nasty wake up call from invading forces. I feel Starcraft won't end after this.

Makes SC kinda cooler with the "human" faction basically have nothing to do with earth at all, since it gives the Terrans an identity that's pretty unique compared to the humans in most other games. Still though, I wouldn't mind it either way.

That was so cool. A desperate defense so they could finish summoning in a pylon, which allowed them to beam in protos troops
what the hell it's coming out november 10th, same day as fallout 4. ...why...
It's gonna be Holiday season soon, gotta get all the big name titles ready and good looking for the big prom night that is Christmas Day!
It depends on Esports actually imo. It isn't really going well. I just hope that it won't end
Starcraft 2 wasn't made because of eSports. Starcraft 1 had a formula that worked perfectly for eSports which made a sequel much easier to want to do, but both games are still very reliant on their story and their moddability. After all, if Map Makers couldn't do the things that they did with Starcraft 1 it's almost certain that it wouldn't have done so well or lasted as long. Sadly however Moddability for Starcraft 2 is lacking, and not many good maps are being made. It's mostly remakes from Warcraft 3 or Starcraft 1 that have the most popularity. If Starcraft 3 happens it'll be because Starcraft 2's brighter burning flame burnt out much quicker than the original and a sequel will be required to take up it's place. Either that or Warcraft 4, which is the more likely of the two.
Pretty fancy, showing off all of the cool stuff that happens in a battle, but lorewise it doesn't seem to really tell us anything we don't already know. I'm dazzled, yes, but not super intrigued. A lot more style than story, but either way I don't hate or dislike the cinematic. It just seems a little story-light to be the opening cinematic of all things.
Looks to me like the Protoss are fighting to take back Aiur. That's pretty big to me.

Hell, it could be a bunch of different races bundled into one faction like the Covenant or the Tau, which wouldn't be out of place considering that StarCraft shares a great deal of its DNA with Warhammer 40K. After all, StarCraft started out as a 40K game but, like with WarCraft, Blizzard couldn't get the license and thus made their own thing. There are a few races in the earlier lore that could join such a ragtag Tau-like/Covenant-esque collective, since during the blue-sky phase of original StarCraft's development, there were going to be six races, the classic three among them. I forget the names of the rest of them, but I do know that there was a race called the "tagal", who we know fuck-all about, there were "space vampires" who were apparently a lot like the Dark Eldar, and in the lore of the Protoss Colossus unit we learn about the "kalathi" who got massacred and blasted back to the Stone Age. So in theory, if there was a "fourth race" introduced, which would probably be a nightmare to diversify and distinguish from the main three from a mechanical standpoint, I'd say it would probably be the "space vampires" enslaving most of the younger races of the Koprulu Sector (and beyond?) to form a twisted empire akin to what the Dark Eldar have. Although, perhaps to avoid having a whole new race break the entire balance, maybe have the "fourth race" be a neutral mercenary faction that players can "recruit" to fight for them, a bit like one of the mechanics that WarCraft 3 had where you could recruit Neutral Heroes like Brewmasters, Dark Rangers, Goblin Alchemists, etc. Lore-wise I guess the "recruitment" would vary between the three races, like the Terrans would hire them like mercs, the Zerg would overwhelm and infest them, and the Protoss would probably try to win them over with diplomacy and the Khala. But this is all just blue-sky brainstorming, and recruiting neutrals probably isn't meant to be part of the formula.
I thought we learned about that when they talked about Legacy of the Void back around the time Wings of Liberty was being made?
This is the first time we've seen it mentioned in the games though. We know of the broken factions of Protoss that are left over remnants of the once great populous, but never has anyone done anything to bolster the remaining forces. This cinematic tells me that someone has sent a rag tag team of infiltrators to get deep within Zerg territory and find what I can only assume to have been a military installation. That Pylon would be the first connection to Aiur that the Protoss have made since it was disconnected back in the Brood Wars. Now that Aiur has been reconnected to what I can assume to be their base world of Shakuras, it would seem that the Protoss are readying to take back their home world once and for all using the new technology they have developed and rediscovered since Aiurs great fall.

I really don't like the direction of 2 but these cinematics always looks nice.

It was still meant to take control of the Koprulu sector, but I dont remember it being stated that was all the UED ever had. Its really neat to see a decent cinematic with the Protoss fighting, though. All we got in the original StarCraft was dragoons blasting some Terrans and Fenix's blade dying on him.

Now that's backfiring because WoW is losing subscribers pretty quickly.
Blizzard is great at cinematics. Hopefully the singleplayer isn't shit like Heart of the Swarm.
