This game is beautiful and I love it
What a wild ride this has been.
This game has been pretty good even since early access. The interesting thing I found while playing was that the game had a story since you just crash on the planet and that seems like an excuse to just build and scavenge
This game looks scary as fuck.
Its absolutely terrifying and I stopped playing because of it. However, it is really really fun and beautiful. I recommend everyone buy it even if you're like me and will poop yourself.
This game has VR, I put my brother in it, he got sea sick and then I tightened the vive strap and started spinning the mouse.
for those that know nothing about this game, the map is handcrafted and has pretty much no procedural generation
On that note, if you played the game earlier in Early Access, you may remember how GODAWFUL loading in new areas were.
It is no longer bad.

This was really bad when paired with the performance dropping like a stone after a couple hours of play.
Started playing this again a few days ago (I've had it for ages but could barely run it last time I tried), had no idea it was about to leave Early Access; the game is fucking fantastic.
A tip - go into this game blind, do not look up hints or spoilers or anything. The exploration and discovery is one of the best parts.
Probably time for me to start up another playthrough of this game. I spent a good few weeks playing it a while back, taking my time and exploring everywhere I went. My game broke in a way that I don't quite remember and I never went back, but boy is Subnautica a special experience.
I remember my first time taking my Seamoth under the wreck of the Aurora. It was already nighttime on the surface and combined with the depth and the fact that I was directly below the ship, it was completely black. Not to mention I had already seen the [sp]Reaper Leviathan lurking around[/sp] so I was already on edge. Didn't matter though.
In case I didn't fully express the darkness where I was, let me take a moment to point out I could only see, at absolute best, ten meters in front of the Seamoth. With absolutely no warning, [sp]the Leviathan's mandibles come out of the darkness, followed by its jaws. My Seamoth was instantly snagged and being thrashed back and forth.[/sp] This was one of the very few times in my life when a video game has made me scream out loud. I panicked and smashed the use key to jump out of the Seamoth and immediately started swimming for my base marker. Behind me, I heard my Seamoth explode (rip, Katya-I) and the [sp]Leviathan's roars,[/sp] but I couldn't bring myself to look back. I hit the surface as quickly as I could and swam to my base. My girlfriend was watching at the time and she can attest that I was making these pitiful whimpering noises the whole way.
I'm not the hardest man in the world, sure, but I can handle scary stuff. Movies, games, doesn't matter I love horror. But that fucked me up.
i wait for one or two more patches, it's definitely nicely looking game ...
i'm little sad it has no cooperative gameplay (sort of like Astroneer or Hellion)
if you've ever gone on holiday to a beach and merrily swam away from shore only to stop and look straight down past your feet into the bottomless ocean and immediately wanted nothing other than to go back to shore as fast as you fucking can, know that this game is basically that sensation prolonged over hours, and it invites you to do the opposite. you don't necessarily get it from the trailer but the game is genuine fun layered with pure psychological discomfort.
I've had this game for a while now, good to see they're finally launching for real. Trust me, if you think building a futuristic underwater house is comfy as fuck - it is. It's rad as shit.
Is there an ending now? [sp]Can you finally leave the planet?[/sp]
i never heard of it, i gotta buy it because it seems to be indeed a diamond

[sp]Yeah. Rocket is in and everything.[/sp]
I wish crabsquids crawled around like the cinematic trailer, the way they hover looks too goofy to be threatening.

Thank god, that shit was so annoying. Moving around with the Seamoth was only half as fun thanks to these ridiculous performance drops.
any idea which version of Unity they using as base ? (don't have that downloaded yet)
recent 2017.3 build does wonders to performance woes

They actually do crawl on the bottom too.
This looks like my kind of game... Gonna have to get this someday.

Oh really? That's cool, I've played a bunch but never seen them do it.
This game and Osiris New Dawn are some of my favorite survival type games - really happy it turned out so well!

You really should, it's well worth the money even for noodling about for a bit.
This game has some of the best atmosphere of any game I've ever played. I thought it was just some dumb EA survival sim, but holy shit was I surprised. It creates this horrifying fear of the unknown, combines it with a sense of total helplessness, and throws you into it. I can't think of any other game that creates such an awful sense of dread, over and over, no matter how far you progress in the game.
I hate scary games, but this game was riveting. Building a base helps give you some comfort and safety, but you have to go out and explore to progress, and that ways brings back this total vulnerability and dread that never quite goes away.
Enjoyed it for many hours till the game pushed me to get close to the crashed ship which absolutely fucking terrified me to no end.
Those who played probably know what I mean.
I pushed one and played till at some point I had to go somewhere really dark and that spooked me even more, will probably head back at some point.
I wish my pc could still run this, my last hope is for a ps4 release.
One one the few games that strike a good balance between making survival non-trivial while still not making it overtly annoying. To be honest, you should really be playing it permadeath mode. The game is just too easy otherwise, it really seems like it was balanced around hardcore mode.
I played like 2 hours of this in VR. It was good though the controls were a bit off.
After watching that second trailer lets just say I'm fucking glad I stopped at 2 hours :v:
I tried playing it with low graphics and surprisingly it runs pretty well on this machine, even though doing so is kind of defeating the point of playing it to begin with. This sort of game needs to be played maxed out.
I'm really into VR right now and I really want to get this and play it in VR but I have heard no end of people complaining about controls. From what I understand this game doesn't have touch control support which works fine for something like Elite Dangerous where you have a joystick but a game like this seems like it would just kill the fun of playing in VR if your having to use a keyboard and mouse for your hands. If they plan on adding touch control support for the future I will very much so consider a purchase.
