A newsflash is when a TV channel interrupts normal programming because some serious shit has just gone down.
I'm fascinated by these. It makes me feel like I'm back there while it was all happening. It's also somewhat chilling to see them struggling to figure out what's going on, when you know exactly what happened that day.

When Princess Diana died, QVC (shopping channel) even shut down and there were announcements put out on pretty much every single channel:

BBC went full patriot, as they later also did with the Queen Mother. God knows what they will do when the Queen dies

Jesus
That first 911 one is just chilling
I remember one, it was a video that was being made at the time, I think someone was eating breakfast when the towers got hit. Just fucking chilling
I remember flicking on the TV when I got home from school when I was 9, expecting cartoons, but saw these 2 buildings I recognised from a family vacation on fire. I was confused then slowly realised what was going on and how serious it was.
I'm 21 now and remember it pretty vividly.
I was 6 and had no idea what the WTC was or what was going on. I came home from school and both my parents were watching it on TV, and I remember being frustrated by their vague explanations of what was happening.
Four years later I would come home from school and watch 7/7 in almost exactly the same circumstances, except this time I knew what was happening.
I have a better memory of the Iraq War though, mostly through my brother explaining the WMD issue and specifically the day I woke up and saw "we got him"
I was 4
I remember not even thinking it was a big deal, it did really hit me till 3 days later
Would anyone be intrested in a Apollo 13 Press conference?
Conference starts at ~ 7:20 of the first video

Not really breaking news stuff, but quite similar.
Part 5 is MIA, part 1 is the Apollo 13 launch.

The youtube account has a TON of news coverage from mercury to space shuttle launches.
I would imagine the only reason QVC "suspened broadcast in recognition of events" would be because no one would tune in, not out of any kind of respect.
I was 5 years old at the time of 9/11. Because I live in Australia it was like the dead of night but I was still up for some reason, I remember my mum quickly got up from her computer chair and raced to the TV, curious to see what was going on i left my bed and went to the computer room
her yahoo game was still up but nothing was happening, i was too young to really read so i didnt bother and went to the tv area, mum was standing there in shock as i watched what i thought was just a demolition gone wrong, channel ten commentators had no idea what was going on and so did i so went to bed
It took me a few years to know what i saw on the television set but I still remember it

If you want to see all of the channel interruptions to 9/11
I was pulled out of school by my parents after the first tower was hit. I got home just in time to see the second tower get hit. It was really scary stuff, especially since my dad is a pilot and my mom is a flight attendant.
