They're doing the exact opposite of what they should be doing. I never considered it a alt-right meme until people started calling it a hate symbol. Instead of acknowledging it as such, just outmeme it. There is no better way to kill a 4chan meme than to make everyone and your grandmother unironically use it for fun on their Facebook walls.
