The third music video by Woodkid came out a few days ago. "Today I will tell you the story of a man, who drowned in the cold waters of ocean after losing someone who he used to love. It's a story about a man, who died twice." This shit is great, the music as well as the cinematography, editing, and style. Also, the three music videos together all relate, and there are tons of theories how. Here are the other two: (posted on FP before, but juts a refresher) IRON RUN BOY RUN Reoccurring Themes The Keys: First seen around the neck of one of the warriors in IRON, then on the book of the priest. in RUN BOY RUN, seen as the emblem on the city/fortress flags. In I LOVE YOU, the old man in the church seems to have a connection with the actual keys as well. The Boy: First seen in IRON, either dead or unconscious. Main character of RUN BOY RUN, he is first running away from something, but then gains a helmet and wooden sword and an army. He storms the city/fortress thing. In I LOVE YOU, is seen probably dead for the first few seconds. The Priest: First seen in IRON, reciting from the book with the key symbol on them. Not seen in RUN BOY RUN. Main character of I LOVE YOU, he arrives at a church and plays a song. Dies at end? Who knows what the connection is, of if the is any. I think there is. They wouldn't have shown the boy dead at the beginning of the new video if there wasn't some sort of story.
fantastic, Woodkid always gives me chills whenever I listen to his song
Did they film I Love You on Iwo Jima or something?
Woodkid rocks, wish more people listened to him. I guess you could say the priest got stoned.
Did they film I Love You on Iwo Jima or something?
Looks like somewhere cold / glacier
Always loved IRON, never knew his other music videos were so amazing as well.
Woodkid is excellent, IRON fit so damn well in the Assassin's Creed Revelations trailer.
Woodkid is easily one of my favorite artists. EASILY
He's a very unique artist
Privated!
to think, he directed videos for taylor swift and katy perry then he does this shit woah
Woodkid's actually been getting pretty popular recently, and he's stuck to his style. I love it.
I saw him live, and it was the most amazing experience ever. This is where I was He wanted us to "call in a storm", he extended Iron into a crazy dance tribal beat party. at 4:17, lighting and rain just started pouring. You can hear the thunder, it soudns really high pitched and creepy though.
The Golden Age is shaping up to be an amazing album.
I just ordered Iron Ep and I'm looking forward to Golden Age.
Also, the three music videos together all relate, and there are tons of theories how.
Did the band say this?
Did the band say this?
No, but the themes that repeat point to that, especially the beginning of the new video. If not, it's still neat to think about.
Aren't those the papal keys?
Damn it. I swear it was only a couple days ago that I decided to watch some Woodkid music videos and I did not see this one...
If there is a connection, Run Boy Run is probably chronologically the "first" one, second being Iron and third I Love You. The keys are also visible in Iron on a flag carried by a man, as visible in the youtube preview pic.
Appreciate you bringing light to Woodkid's sounds, powerful beats for lovely lyrical pieces; thank you Glitchman.
holy shit, you people actually listen to woodkid too ahaha i love FP [editline]10th February 2013[/editline] had no idea he was mainstream
Damn, apparently his work isn't available on Itunes in America.
I've shown the videos to two different friends. My theory (purely based on the videos), is that it all represents the struggles of growing up. In the first video(run boy run) we see the child running towards the white cityscape aided by monsters. I think the white cityscape is adulthood, and the monsters his childhood+fond memories helping him remember how young he is, as he's prepared to fight. The second video we see the boy on the alter, and a boy with the owl. I believe those are suppose to be the same people. The warriors are traits he carries as he's now older and is continuing to fight growing up. They fall apart as the ash+stone rains down. In the final video I think he's become the priest. Now a character of minor social importance he has the one role in life, and finds it dull (he shows up late to the sermon, and seems bored/distant). He's telling the story of himself, growing old and complaisant. I haven't looked into the lyrics yet.
Woodkid's music is really awesome, his music is like stories and epics. His voice just adds to it. Those keys always intrigued me, I've seen them as an emblem in Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer. Is there a connection?
in Iron, I feel that the battle going on is inside the boy's mind. The reason I think this is because the priest is shouting things from the book at the boy, then right after is when the smoke/fire lands on the warriors.
I'll get to it.
I too, think these videos are about the struggle of growing up. Though I do think Iron should go infront of Run Boy Run. In Iron all the events seem to happen around the unconscious kid and the priest, I think this could be a troubled childhood, the confusion of the grown world when you are still young. Events happen all around you without you ever noticing because of your childish innocence, the kid is not involved in the events, yet they all seem to wind around him. I think Run Boy Run is more about fighting adulthood, instead of growing into it. At first, the kid is fleeing from the gray, boring structures representing adulthood. When it gets obvious there is no escaping from it, he tries to fight it. Summoning the powers of his childlike imagination and creativity to fight the organised, bland adult city. I love you is about growing up fully, in the beginning of the video the kid from Run Boy Run is seen defeated, the battle against the mature world has been lost. A man can be seen wondering around aimlessly before drowning himself, he gives up and turns into stone, he turns into an adult. At least that's my two cents.
This is some great music. I can't stop listening to it.
I get the impression that the priest is in search of God, especially from the seemingly heavenly light beams towards the end.
