This man right here hit the nail on the head.
Oh TF2 keys, they will never understand our love.
Warning: the video above mentions ponies. Specifically, a documentary about their fanbase. Let's not try and light a mountain of gasoline in here.
so why did you post about it
Because posting things at 12 midnight makes my brain go fuzzy and makes me stupid. My bad, and I apologize. In topic related stuff, I found myself agreeing with this man. Excuse me while I go and look at his other videos.

theyre gonna watch the video anyway
Warning: the video above mentions ponies. Specifically, a documentary about their fanbase. Let's not try and light a mountain of gasoline in here.
You're effectively "lighting a mountain of gasoline" by what it seems like, attempting to piss people off.
Warning: the video above mentions ponies. Specifically, a documentary about their fanbase. Let's not try and light a mountain of gasoline in here.
But they're a problem to society!
Foreverpandering is correct once again. It's okay to like something if it has a positive effect, but shoving it down everyone's throats is pushing too many buttons to be considered acceptable.
I had never heard of kickstarter until the bronycon documentary. I think the bronycon documentary might have some use. Bronies can slam it in haters' faces. "You don't understand bronies! Watch the documentary!" :v: Seriously though, the documentary can be shown to parents of bronies. "Look, mom and dad, I like the show, and this the group of people I identify with."
I don't know what to think of this. I'm pretty sure I agree totally with everything he just said, and it's a little sad. I mean, it would be possible to make a real documentary about bronies because, really, it is an interesting phenomenon. This video kind of made me realize that the documentary will probably be shit. I was falsely excited about it because John de Lancie is the guy behind it. But if someone set out to explore the whole thing in an unbiased way, which is exactly what doesn't exist, then it could probably be interesting. The negative media ignores the the good sides of the fandom, and documentaries like these ignore stuff like cloppers. Bluh.
I fucking love Foreverpandering.
I kind of find it funny that he mentions that the Tropes vs Women documentary is stupid because you can sum everything up in a sentence or two, then spends the rest of the video digressing on his two or three sentences in the beginning on why bad documentaries aren't good

Regardless of whether it is warranted or not, the purpose of a documentary is to inform the viewer of what an issue or subject is about and present facts in an unbiased way. Something that both of the films mentioned in the video have absolutely no intention of doing. If they were making an actual documentary, they would talk about both the positive and negative aspects of their topics and allow the viewer to form their own opinion. Not just make points that the creator agrees with and talk about them in an obviously positive light.
This video is accurate. Very accurate.

But an all positive documentary would still be great to let the parents watch :v:
This man does not understand documentaries. They do not have to be unbaised at all. Factually correct, preferably, but it can very much be baised towards making a certain point.
He brings up great points, but he has a real cockyness tony in his voice
brb im going to make a documentary about how i think Mass Effect isnt the greatest thing that's ever happened, and how i think the sequels were both shitty.

This video makes me want a documentary about documentaries. Quick, somebody make a kickstarter!
People don't like Theroux?
He brings up great points, but he has a real cockyness tony in his voice
Well Tony should get out of his throat then.
I can guarantee that those kinds of people will not be shown in the bronycon documentary. DeLancie is just trying to become culturally relevant again; he sees a large fandom of impressionable youths that eat up everything he says, and he likes it. Same deal with Tara Strong, she spends like 95% of her time nowadays going to bronycons and enjoying the fact that every time she does anything, the bronies go apeshit over it. It's kind of depressing how easily a lot of them can be manipulated.
I'm not sure De Lancie is just doing it for getting popular again, I'm not great at explaining it but I think he see's an analogy of jumping from one iceberg to another. He has mentioned not sure on camera he's no longer as interested in acting. Besides that he does see an impressionable youth and I think he would like to be a positive influence at least in his motivational talks. (I should post one of his motivational talks). Now I'm not arguing that you can be completely wrong, in my opinion I disagree when it comes to just seeing him reclaim relevants.
this guy makes some decent points too bad he's also a massive sperglord, which makes him impossible to take seriously
He also says 15-25 is the core video game consumers but actually the average age of the most frequent video game purchasers is ~35. A good documentary also researches facts bro

Plus the fact that most people who buy games are the parents buying them for their kids who can't get past the M or T ratings.
