Speaking as probably the biggest Walking Dead fan on this forum, season seven has been booooooooring for the most part.
yeah the mid season premier had me falling asleep.
The show has become nothing but melodramatic soap opera acting. 2-3 characters still interest me enough to watch; Rick, Negan and either Michonne/Daryl. Everyone speaks in a terrible, breathy "acting" voice, and the characters are so one dimensional it legitimately makes me mad when I can predict the exact words these "alive for 1 episode" characters are going to say.
This show died after season 1 ended.
This show died after season 1 ended.
As soon as this show started to become more about FEELINGS and EMOTIONS and less about fucking SURVIVING it went downhill. Boring.
My beef with the show is that for a while it was all like "Look at how dangerous people are in the apocalypse!" Then after a few episodes it would be like "oh shit, we're a zombie show but we've been focusing on the people too much, have zombies attack person/place". Seasons 1 & 2 though. Good shit. Is this worth picking up again? Might download an ep to my phone to watch on the train. I do have the comics and read 'em, but I know the show went off the rails from the comic pretty early.

Shane was a pretty damn good character. In the first season the antagonist was the zombie threat itsself, in the second season, it was a person IN the group. I thought that was a good way to show what someone who isn't ~explicitly~ crazy (like Meryl) could go through to become unstable.
i quit during season 3 because of that god damned [sp]governor[/sp] bullshit and according to people who kept watching it, it kept going after season 3???
i quit during season 3 because of that god damned [sp]governor[/sp] bullshit and according to people who kept watching it, it kept going after season 3???
[sp]Yeah, he gets fucked up in season 3 and ends up surviving on his own for a while (doing his best Clint Eastwood impression). It then shows him becoming a good man, finding a family that lets him in; before instantly turning that family into an army (along with getting a hold of a tank) and marching it into the good-guys base. lol[/sp]
While we're on the subject, one of the most annoying niggles with the show for me was that every episode seemed to have an obligatory tense scene where somehow a zombie would manage to ninja up on someone without making any noise despite zombies being rather noisy in general in every other scene.
This show died after season 1 ended.
Oh come on with that. Season 1 was 6 episodes long. Id say it died after Season 3 at least.
The show simply has too many episodes per season to be honest. Slim it down to like 8 and the pacing will be glorious and filled to the brim with stuff going on. Either that or drop this crappy two parter season method which just isn't working. This show can easily be great but it's slowing the fuck down too much, the comics get through stuff fast and quick while keeping it all fresh.
