Couldn't they use like... some sort of extension cord/stick?
..
Or hell shoot an arrow with a cord over the lake (or a part of it) and use a bucket that passes by.

Science isn't about why, it's about why not.
Oh god the way it splashes, getting one drop to land onto you would make me crazy.
Badass scientist.
British people make excellent narrators.
That's a death defying scientist
Robots?
I bet he was standing there thinking "Should I do it? Ohfuckohfuckohfuck FUCK IT GO TIME"
3:12 onwards, I could practically hear him saying "shit...shit...shit shit shit shitshitshitshit....
He simply walked into Mordor and then simply ran the fuck away.
Is the music from The Dark Knight? Sounds similar.

Once in a liftetime opportunity
Holy shit. You can just see the lava creeping up to where he was standing.
Lava is honestly the most amazing substance I've ever seen.
Its amazing that something like that exists, the way it looks is so fucking cool.
That guy is such a boss.
Fun fact about this lava lake, you often have to take armed guides into there due to typical African politics. Heard this from a documentary I watched about the volcano, I forget the title though think it was Netgeo or Discovery.
I cant think of any worse death than fall in lava. It frightens me

Falling into lava would be a rather quick death. your brain would boil and cook in seconds, killing you almost instantly.

That's horrifying to think about anyways.

Beats drowning by a long ways.
So amazing watching magma flow like that. And to think, it's just liquid rock essentially. Yet at some points it looks like paper or thick jelly and even flows like water if it's hot enough. Crazy.
Are there any recent records of individuals who were actually killed BY lava? Search as I've tried, worst I ever heard of was some geologist in Hawaii who fell into a flow up to his thighs, but made a full recovery after... you know... the horrifying skin grafts and other shit they must have needed to do in order to treat such wicked fucking burns...
Looked up stories, pics and videos, and the closest thing I ever find are the ending to Star Wars Episode 3 and about a thousand Super Mario and Minecraft playthroughs...

Unless you get the Anakin Skywalker experience and cook slow.
Looks like the gate to hell.
