• Stephen King's "N." -- An animated graphic novel

I was going to post this in the "Generally Creepy Stuff" thread, but then I decided that it's so long it deserves its own thread here in the video section. This was made to promote Stephen King's book "Just After Sunset". This is the story "N", done in conjunction with Marvel comics, and it's great. Ooooh, just got this series the other day. Most excellent.
Holy shit. This is great.
Holy shit, that was awesome. I love stuff like this.
That was awesome.
It's broad daylight. The TV is on, playing some ancient cowboy film. I can hear my next door neighbors kids playing "try and shout louder than me" And i still feel a little scared on my own here.
Yeah, I love this. I've watched it a few times and there are always little places that give me goosebumps.
I've never read Stephen King's books. I know, I probably should. The entire time I was watching these videos, though... all I could think was, "Shit, King really wishes he could be H. P. Lovecraft, doesn't he?"

This definitely a reference to his Novel "It". Between the nomenclature for the beast and the state of Maine it seems pretty likely.
This definitely a reference to his Novel "It". Between the nomenclature for the beast and the state of Maine it seems pretty likely.
Can you give a reference? "It" didn't have a name as far as I can remember (whereas the creature from "N." is clearly named 'Cthun'), and most of King's stories take place in Maine (it's his home state). I'm not trying to argue with you, not really, it just doesn't seem much like "It" to me (a novel I've read on several occasions). Aside from being a creature from 'outside', the two aren't remarkably similar. Also, even "It" was largely Lovecraft-inspired. Check this out, it's a good read: http://www.strangehorizons.com/2005/20051219/king-lovecraft-a.shtml
That was nice. I'm going to get me a Lovecraft book.
This must be the best thing I've seen in a long time. I hope they make more of theese. It really reminded me of Lovecraft.
The superficial stuff really makes it not scary. If being scary is even it's goal anyway.
Well if the monster's name wasn't inspired by Cthulhu then I don't know what was.
Sat down and watched all of that really great story. Really interesting look at mental illness.
I wish it ended better, like maybe him going: ".. So I'm going out there today, I'll be there on the eighth, and after all.. eight is great" Or some one liner, I think it just would have ended better with a punch than a subtle 'hey hurr its gonna repeat again'

To be honest I'm not sure whether I like the original ending or your idea better, but the original does show how it seems to constantly effect one person at a time, ultimately taking their life. You'd probably get that from your ending as well, although there are less examples that way (2 less people, the sister and the friend).
The monster reminds me of iron maidens Eddie.
Odd yet amazing. I wish there was more.
Odd yet amazing. I wish there was more.
There aren't any more movies like this (at least not yet), but King's worked with Marvel to release several graphic novels (I know there are a few 'Dark Tower' story arcs as well as a graphic novel of 'The Stand') [editline]04:20PM[/editline]
The monster reminds me of iron maidens Eddie.
Yeah, I can sort of see the resemblance now that you mention it.
Are there anymore of these?

Thanks for the info though.
wow those were good
i watched all 25 and by the end i was really kinda bored.
That was awesome. I love animated graphic novels if the art is good, like this one. I remember the 28 Days Later graphic novel did this for one of the stories. Awesome stuff. This was very good. Very Lovecraftian, and do love Lovecraft. Only problem I could see was that everyone talked too fast.
Hrm. Good story I suppose, not a big fan of King and the way I got the story was offputting. The audio was too loud (Was better after I turned down Youtube a bit), the "acting" in both the vocals and the art was overblown, and the damn intro/credits annoyed me to death even after I figured out to just skip roughly 20 seconds into the video. Negativities aside, I like the actual story, if it isn't a bit... noisy or brash, I guess you could say. Lovecraftian horror suits my tastes well, so I quite enjoyed it in that aspect. Would've been better to just read it though. Also, anyone else think "It" looked like the Creeper from Jeepers Creepers?
I read Stephen King stories occasionally and this one sure gave me some chills. Hope they make more of these animated graphic novels.
Also, anyone else think "It" looked like the Creeper from Jeepers Creepers?
I thought it kinda looked like "nemesis" from Resident Evil.
I found the credits annoying, it would have been better as one 25 minute episode. [editline]11:03AM[/editline] also, was I the only one who counted the stones every time they appeared?
