fuck me this scene is just wow
I can actually identify with this scene because that's actually how I speak to girls in real life but yeah, kill me now
Why do their lips come forward like a goblin shark whenever they talk?
Why do their lips come forward like a goblin shark whenever they talk?
Because the facial animations are trash along with lip syncing
She needs to stop by the mechanic and get her neck adjusted. It seems to be misaligned.
So it fits in with every other bioware romance
this is so garbage what the fuck
Am I really seeing characters that have no static animations, like breathing?
That's a great scene. There's a character everyone can relate too. The Salarian specifically.
I cringed so hard my spine handed me a letter of resignation..
I'm not gonna criticise the dialogue because I get the feeling it's supposed to come across as "Kill. Me. Now." but, from what I've played so far some characters just have absolutely unacceptable lip sync and animations. Come to think of it, it's almost exclusively humans, probably because they can get away with it a bit better on faces that are alien. Director Addison on the Nexus is a particular character that was so bad that I almost closed the game. Playing Scott instead of Sarah I also know that Scott is somewhat better.
Am I really seeing characters that have no static animations, like breathing?
Yeah I laughed at the salarian's reaction up and then I noticed that he's a literal statue there. Only his lips move. And it's not a one second frame either, you really see how he's sitting there, motionless. And his lip sync is spot on too, that's the most baffling. Everyone in that scene is an alien.
wow, ME:A, Nier: Automata, and Horizon: Zero Dawn all within the span of a month. Are robot games going to be the new trend?
So it fits in with every other bioware romance
I haven't played a Bioware game in a while, but one of the things I always remember about them is how stiff and artificial the romance section felt like. The system was pretty much: do a few favors -> squeeze backstory out of NPC -> short confession scene -> fade-to-black -> you've "won", congrats, that's it. That's little to no romantic moments for a "romance" option. I mean I know the dating sim genre is trash and even just a token effort will give Bioware's games a ton of attention (remember ME1's ""sex scene"" controversy pre-launch?), but every time I hear of a romance option in a Bioware game, I wonder if they actually put any romance in there this time. Tho again, I'm not an avid Bioware game player, so maybe they've made progress on that front since the last time I played.
So it fits in with every other bioware romance
Mass Effect Original Trilogy: "Report to the ship as soon as possible. We'll bang, okay? I should go" Mass Effect Andromeda: "I'm really glad you volunteered to join our crew, by the way. I think you're cute and I really like seeing you up here" *badly animated spaghetti falls out of pockets* Where did it go so wrong?

Gotta be honest, that "kill me now" part got me good.
One of these things is not like the other
...nier?
Gotta be honest, that "kill me now" part got me good.
It's like Bioware's last veteran staffer snuck it in under the nose of all the tumblr fanfic writers that took Bioware over. It's a tragic cry for help.
The fuck, the redhead doesn't even look at her while speaking.
Woah, that writing was genuinely around the level of quality you'd expect from short-form fanfic you'd see posted on tumblr or something. *giggles* ur cute hehe accent *giggle*

A big problem I think many people have is that Ryder is wholly unlike Shepard. In the original Mass Effect you start out as a character who is a top level special forces operative and the commander of a ship, you're confident, knowledgable, and implicitly trusted by everyone from the start. Ryder on the other hand is one step out of boot camp. You fought some Batarians and dug around on some Prothean dig sites (you fucking nerd!). Ryder isn't experienced or confident and no one trusts you to get the job done, rightfully too as you weren't trained to be a Pathfinder you're a recon specialist. Most people don't like playing as the new guy who doesn't have their footing and in most RPGs you can choose not to, but Mass Effect is more about controlling the attitudes and ideals of a set character, so if you don't like that character it'll inherently put you off the game as a whole.
I kind of liked playing as a useless nonce, it made them feel more like a real character plus it gave some context to the constant barriers you have put in front of you. The entire galaxy constantly second guessing a famous hero that saves galaxy on a regular basis is entirely different from a set of struggling colonists second guessing a nerd who's doing a job he/she is totally unqualified for.
Sad part is, this is the good stuff. Wait til you get to the "twist". The plot writing in this game is worse than the animations, and unlike the animations, there is no fix.
