Simon Pegg's reaction to the new Star Trek trailer

Simon Pegg (he wrote it) didn't like the trailer, he says there is a lot more then the action shown in it, more "Trekkie" stuff. It was the Marketing people/director who did it to attract the action people.

kinda sad how he knows he cant directly say "i didnt like it" but he almost did it and had to work around it.
fuck it, i hate the director
Ahahah Justin Lin directing a Star Trek movie... What did you expect?

Well Simon said there is more then just action in the movie, so it is there. They just decided not to show it in the trailer.
Simon pegg seems like such a real dude. It must be awesome being a huge Star Trek fan and being a major roll in the movie series. It's cool he's like the ambassador for the real fans.
You can see the pain in his eyes in the last few seconds
Man must be painful, Simon is a massive Star Trek fan and he really wants to deliver a good movie but yeah, then you have the market department who is just going with "MORE EXPLOSIONS AND ROCK MUSIC! Because that also worked with Fast and Furious"

:(
The day we get a big budget hollywood Star Trek movie that is actually like Star Trek is the day hell freezes over.
It just isn't happening in today's world. I am not saying there isn't a chance that the whole movie crew just decided to fool higher-ups into making another michael bay Star Trek movie, and then the meat of the movie is legit good sci-fi stuff. That is a possibility, but that would also mean there would never be another Star Trek movie for a long time.

That's only because he's pretty much obliged to be positive about it. You can tell he really doesn't like the direction they're taking it, but obviously the men in suits don't give a shit and just want to pump out more generic actions films.
Sadly they don't realise Star Trek is not the sort of brand that attracts those sorts of people, those sorts of people think Star Trek is dumb shit for nerds and won't be interested no matter how many explosions you put in it.

Well, he did also play a major role in writing the film, so hopefully there is at least some truth in what he's saying.

He did say it though at 23 seconds. "I didn't love it because I know there's a lot more to the film"
Well, at least the trailer (apparently) doesn't represent the movie properly.
I was really worried this film was going to be 100% 2fast2furious4u and that would've been really disappointing. Although not entirely surprising given the way "Into Darkness" turned out.

He wrote the script
I get the impression some people either didn't read the OP or watch the video properly?
He's got no gripe with the film itself or the director. He wrote the film. He just doesn't like the trailer, feels it makes it seem like an action fllm when it's not. We know the directors get pretty much no say on what's in the trailers.
I don't understand why people are giving this shit. The last two Star Trek movies weren't anything like the old ones. They were pretty much just action movies. If anything this one is the most like the old show since they're actually out in deep space on an adventure just like in the show instead of doing a) an origin story like the first of the reboots, or b)a plot taking place mostly on or around Earth like in the second one.
People are looking way too much into this trailer.
all trailers are shit anyway no arguement
I love Simon Pegg, hate to see him so sad. I almost hope the movie turns out great just for Simon's sake.
Who the hell gave Justin Lin the rights to make a bloody Star Trek film?
How did someone even think that a peaceful techno-babble show could use more Wiz Khalifa, brazilian asses and Vin Diesel lifting a fucking armored supercar?
Who is Justin Lin and why do we hate him
Who is Justin Lin and why do we hate him
He is the Fast & Furious series director. So basically, he has only ever really made high octane action films, making him a poor fit for a Star Trek film. I don't think he is BAD at what he does, but what he does isn't Star Trek.
Who is Justin Lin and why do we hate him
1. Guy who directed a load of Fast & Furious movies
2. A guy who is most know for directing Fast & Furious doesn't seem like the best choice for a director for a Star Trek movie
I miss Simon doing British comedies. I just want another season of Spaced ;_;

MoS trailer #3 was one of the best Superman films to ever come out. The film on the other hand...

Dunno, Star Wars usually does it right.

That would truly be a miracle.

so that automatically makes Phantom Menace a good movie.
no, all trailers are deceiving pieces of crap and must be stopped!
Seriously, they should have just grabbed Edgar Wright for the job. He's much on the same level as Simon Pegg, hence why they're good friends and why they work so damn well together. With Simon having written the script, basically the best one for job would be Edgar Wright.
