This isn't so much as a video share as it is as a quality share.
Today at the VidCon 2010 conference, we announced support for videos shot in 4K, meaning that now we support original video resolution from 360p all the way up to 4K. To give some perspective on the size of 4K, the ideal screen size for a 4K video is 25 feet; IMAX movies are projected through two 2k resolution projectors. We always want videos on YouTube to be available in the highest quality possible, as creators intend. In December of last year, we announced support for 1080p, or full HD. At 4096 x 2304 pixels, 4K is over four times the size of 1080p. To view any video in a source resolution greater than 1080p, select "Original" in the video quality pulldown menu
To view, click the youtube icon to go to the page, then change it to original resolution - it doesn't embed well. My input: Great from youtube, but flash can't handle it, really.
Loading is really slow
They also mentioned that you need a really, really, really fast internet connection to buffer it.
it buffers.. its clear.. but the FPS rate is shitty and you notice a LOT more flaws in the video than in the 1080p version. Youtube can't survive this much resolution
I buffered it fine and dandy, the problem for me was running it... Holy shit low fps
It crashed my opera. :frown:
I know I could search, but how do you render in 1080p, Sony Vegas. I saved settings for 720p, but wanna know 1080p for Youtube.
Why? Really, why. What use does this serve unless you have a 25 foot monitor. And wouldn't this take ages to upload anyways..? YouTube already takes forever.

You'd need a screen that can show a resolution that massive to get anything out of it anyway. Why are people so retarded about screen resolutions? Apparently its a good idea to make a resolution too big for your screen now, not just one too small for it.
It loaded just fine for me...
Slow as fuck.It buffers fast but it can't play it.
buffered fine and played very smoothly both embed and full screen. It's funny how I can buffer this 4k video (Without it stopping at all throughout the entire video) but when I try to watch some other video I can barely buffer it at 360p.
I can't wait to try this out on my projector.
I can't even watch things in 720p without lagging like hell. :sigh:
Ow my bandwidth. I think it's broken.
Even with half the video buffered it was still choppy :/.
itt: people don't understand that you need a fast connection to watch it smoothly
Strange, don't get the option for Original, did they remove the feature or is my internet trying to save itself.
The second video :3:
Neato. That's alI can think to say :3:
It buffered real good and i got a nice fps as well.
late, I posted a thread about this days ago in HS
Why have this, since really nobody has such a big resolution at home?
IMAX isn't digital. [editline]10:32PM[/editline]
itt: people don't understand that you need a fast connection to watch it smoothly
You can't fucking watch 4k smoothly. It's 4k. Modern PC's are almost choking on 1080p, this is more than 4 times that.
I didn't notice anything at first so I checked my CPU percentage and it was at 50%.. Then I realized it was actually somewhat nicer, odd.....
Well it would be nicer if your display is bigger than 1080p. Or even at it, as the scaling would provide subpixel detail normal compression wouldn't allow for.
