New Ghostbusters?
NO
Typically I wait to watch HITB until I've seen the movie myself. I think that this time I will break that rule.
How the fuck are people defending this movie
You know that mspaint comic where a guy is squatting over a plate and a spectator asks "why are you shitting on that plate?" and the squatting guy responds "How do you know it's shit? It's not even out yet!"
Sony basically created a marketing campaign for this movie in which they were the squatting guy from that comic, and the people who bought into it really don't want to be seen as a bunch of tools.
I wonder if that cocktail was anygood.

People need something to defend blindly because they have nothing better to do.

Considering Mike [sp]Got fucking hammered off it[/sp] I'd say so.
Also more spoilers for the review.

At least the Transformers movies are good popcorn flicks.
I wonder how vindicated James feels that the movie is as bad as people said it was going to be

don't look on tumblr then, there is nothing but people jacking off to this movie.
It's hardly the worst offence against cinema in the history of film. It's just a nothing film really. I sat through it, appreciated a few of the scenes because callbacks make me fuzzy and warm inside, but a lot of it does fall flat.
It doesn't make any progress really, the plot goes slow and steady for a while showing the build up of the team then fucking rushes the actual threat.
Though now I really want one of those skull bottles dammit. Looks dope and it's alcohol, what more can a man want in life?
[editline]edited[/editline]
Holy shit Mike went hard.
mike was tipsy af lol
every time it cut to the crystal skull vodka i muttered a fearful 'OH NO'
great episode
They may not be sponsored by it, but I certainly want some Dan Aykroyd™ Crystal Skull Vodka™ now.
Can't wait for all the articles penned by fat balding goony bearded "culture" writers about how RLM are a bunch of white shitlord manchildren who lynch women by the droves on a daily basis

I might agree with you on the first one, but the rest of the series is like sticking your head in dryer full of rocks for 3 hours.

its fine if people enjoy the movie but a lot of people that ive seen who like it also try to pull bullshit feminism into it. most people ive seen, especially on tumblr/twitter, who like it, talk about how everyone that dislikes it is some kind of basement dwelling manchild, and it really ruins the credibility of people that do like it just because its a comedy movie.

As someone with absolutely 0 nostalgic connection to Ghostbusters 1, I didnt think it was terrible.
Theres been worse movies this year.
What confuses me is that the reviews for this are all over the map.
Professional reviewers are either "it's great!" or "it's decent for a remake but doesn't hold up to the original". Nobody outright shits on it - which, if it were absolutely horrible, you'd think someone would. This can't be entirely written off as bribery - there's too many "meh" reviews.
Fan reviewers seem to be listing it as one of the worst movies of all time. This can't be written off entirely as sexism, because a fair number are saying "all of these actresses are good, they're just not in a good movie". (As a curious exception, Howard Tayler's blog lists it as one of the better movies he's seen this year, with barely any criticism even when talking about things others have savaged the movie for)
Audience reviews are everywhere - 11/10, -1/5, and everywhere in between, in about equal amounts.
I can't figure out what could be behind all of this. It just doesn't make sense. I've never seen a movie be this divisive before release, and afterward it somehow got even worse. It does not make sense.
Maybe we'll have better perspective, years down the line, and the explanation will seem obvious. But right now, all I know is that I don't know enough.

It totally has nothing to do with the months long smear campaign against any of the detractors of the movie and Sony's fucking deplorable actions when it came to the production of the movie, including threatening to sue the still living original cast members if they didnt cameo.

Also pretty much every Ghostbusters fan ive heard talk about it just wanted a Ghostbusters 3, then they got this.
The Sony Shadow Government killed Harold Ramis. WAKE UP SHEEPLES.
