What a shame, such a cool jet. 757s suck ass. I flew on two and both times it was miserable. Felt like being in a steel coffin.
New planes can't melt steel dreams
Even though they'll be phased out in the US by the end of the year, there's still nearly 500 in service globally.

Cargo versions will still continue to operate in the US as far as I know.
For everyone saying RiP 747, it's far from over. Air China, British Airways, Lufthansa and Korean Air will still be flying passenger 747 passenger service for the foreseeable future, British Airways just refurbished their fleet I believe.
Still a fantastic tribute, I loved Theresa Claiborne's line at the end. "I used to call it the king."

Aren't they gonna be replaced by 787s or something, though?
"Those supersonic jets never really took off" *snorts into cappuccino*
Also, it seems that we have located a third member of the race of extraterrestrials that Richard Stallman and Alan Moore belong to.
Maybe when people figure out how to make flight ultra cheap, it would be possible to have those upstairs lounges around again without them costing 50 shitzillion dollars.
it was always my dream to fly a 747 for one of the major carriers. Little sad I'll never get to do that
I don't know if they went over it but why are they phasing out the 747? Efficiency? Lack of demand? or just too old of a design.

It's probably just because the 777 and 787 can do most all of what the 747 did both more efficiently and with newer avionics and such.
