I thought this was star trek beyond for a moment, isn't that right [sp]data[/sp]
Legit kinda excited for this. Love me some disaster porn and it'll probably be a fun popcorn movie
I think I'd actually be more interested if it wasn't in the Independence Day universe.
The only way this trailer could be more hype is if Will Smith were in it. Loved all the callbacks to the original film. Still, loving the direction they're going with this. Definitely wanna go see it when it comes out.
looks okay but everything being future tech kinda ruins the original premise where it felt like the humans didnt stand a chance at all, but since this tech is made from the aliens they'll be on equal ground outside of numbers and force.
My only complaint is why is the [sp]white-haired nerd back? Didn't his brain turned to mush when he became a puppet in the last one? Or is that supposed to be his clone/kid/thing that nerds do?[/sp]
Looks OK. What I would like is that they finally give the aliens a bit of a background story, just a bit. In these types of movies they often forget to explain the aliens; original Independence day, Mars attacks, Oblivion, Edge of tomorrow, War of the worlds... IIRC aliens are there to kill us all and that is their whole story. Instead they focus on some random personal drama of the main characters which we seen in TV shows and billion movies already.
[sp] Is the kid from the first movie suppose to be Will Smith's son from the original? If so fuck yes.
I think I'd actually be more interested if it wasn't in the Independence Day universe.
Ordinarily, I would agree, but I see this working better than most sequels like it (at least from a conceptual level) because it does seem like a logical progression from the first film. Humans adapted their technology and we see that they were biding their time before an even bigger assault (because it was unlikely there wasn't a planet full of these things). As far as contrived sequels go, this one seems like a fairly logical one to put out, and it looks to be a fun popcorn movie.

I just always saw Independence Day as something grounded in reality quite neatly, whereas this movie is full of stylized designs and that don't seem nearly as relatable to reality. Which wouldn't be bad if they just changed the alien designs, but now the world itself looks like something Bungie would make. It just sours the reason I personally look at Independence Day as a good sci-fi.

Doesn't look as bad as the first trailer but I don't really feel this was warranted for a sequal
Well it looks like your typical Summer Dumb Action movie, eh, probably will see just for the cool visuals.
the landmark joke was cool, but this feels so shallow it didn't quite work for me
Woah Jeff Goldblum was showing emotion.
Why do they feel the need to show so much? I know it's obvious "to get people to come see the movie" but it leaves so little to enjoy at the actual viewing.
I'm actualy kind of excited for this
looks okay but everything being future tech kinda ruins the original premise where it felt like the humans didnt stand a chance at all, but since this tech is made from the aliens they'll be on equal ground outside of numbers and force.
Yeah not at all. We humans only had 20 years to use this tech as our own yeah its advanced but we are not matured into this tech like aliens have for who knows? thousand of years of expierence with said technology. Also its a sequel I would not want it any other way this looks like fun movie.
I wonder if the aliens will still be wearing bigger aliens as power armor. It would be neat if the humans also started wearing alien flesh suits and they become the aliens that tried to exterminate them but I'm not expecting that from this kind of movie
XCOM 3 is looking good. [sp]But seriously, holy shit, its looking to be fun worthwhile disaster porn while giving respect to the original[/sp]
It's probably something like, he knew the aliens were coming back because of the whole mind meld thing but everyone thought he was crazy/eccentric since he kinda was in the first movie.
Specifically, this is why people are wondering why he's still alive.
Specifically, this is why people are wondering he's still alive.
yeah I mean they could make some BS excuse like the alien gave if a near death experience or the effect of being controlled like that causes temporary heart something something science
is this the first time Roland Emmerich actually hits buildings with buildings?

why shooting planes with small guns
the landmark joke was cool, but this feels so shallow it didn't quite work for me
i actually quite liked that joke. not only for the fourth wall breaking part; there's also a legitimate reason that an alien race hellbent on destroying humanity would destroy landmarks, and that's for morale and cultural genocide etc etc its a neat little layered line [editline]22nd April 2016[/editline]
Looks OK. I love the XCOM/Battlefield Earth vibes. They're showing so much in the trailer, I can't help but hope the final act is gonna involve going to their planet to deliver some massive fucking. Unlikely, but it really seems like they're using the Independence Day name to gain popularity while making their own cool ass alien invasion movie.
