Recovered off long obsolete media, not as sharp as modern HD but pretty damn impressive for the time.
Amazing how much the world has changed in such a short period of time.
This was really neat to see. That first song is groovy as hell too.
Damn I really like the look of it the colors and edges seem sharp at first glance when really they're not at all

Video equipment at the time was expensive period. This camera probably was probably ten's of thousands of dollars. And that's not including the storage and means to display it. Mid 2000s was really when it finally became feasible to go HD for the average consumer due large capacity storage and massively improved processors. Not to mention flat panel displays radically coming down in price.
Whats up with the Nazi Schutzstaffel guy at 1:42 :v:
p sure it's a cover of this:
First thing that struck me about the video actually, picking a song about how much New York sucks for a New York video
You know it looks like those sample videos you see when you go buy a tv
Whats up with the Nazi Schutzstaffel guy at 1:42 :v:
I couldn't make out his shirt, it said 'Support the Third' and another word or too, looked too long to say Reich.
Wow that was really surreal to watch
That WTC shot was downright depressing.
I don't think it's changed that much. Most of the cars are newer, there's some fancier billboards and buildings, casual clothing changed slightly, and more people looking at a tiny screen on their hand. Apart from that, New York is New York.
Shit, I've been wondering for a long long time of I'd ever get to see something like this with this image quality
not a single cellphone :v:
Whats up with the Nazi Schutzstaffel guy at 1:42 :v:
the New York Hells Angels clubhouse is right there on the right (black building) so that prob explains it
Maaaaaaaaaaaan I miss the 90's. Shit was fuckin rad. Hopefully I live until at least 99 years old so I can see them again.
Everyone seemed a lot more happy back then.
Amazing how much the world has changed in such a short period of time.
Its simple blues at its best. Makes me wonna pick my strat and start playing. The pentatonic in it is real.
Whats up with the Nazi Schutzstaffel guy at 1:42 :v:
Apparently the black building is a Hells Angels clubhouse on the right, so it makes sense. Personally I noticed a man getting another look at a girl at 0.57, though whether he was just looking at her neck is another question. (And not that I blame him anyway)

Everyone's clothes in the 90's were a couple sizes too big. Everyone's.
The video is from this guy who did a review of the Digital VHS format: [editline]26th April 2016[/editline]
I think this is from 1996, not 1993. The MPEG2 Spec wasn't done until 1995. Also, some things are wrong for 1993.
I can't speak to the NYC detail, but it's not recorded on MPEG2 cameras, it's recorded on early Japanese MUSE HD cameras, which is why it's so fuzzy and was later used as HD footage to demonstrate the Digital VHS format. HD footage was scarce in 2001. [editline]26th April 2016[/editline]
Only thing is we had to wait for the tech to become cheap enough. [editline]26th April 2016[/editline]
You know it looks like those sample videos you see when you go buy a tv
That's exactly what it was for, but for the Japanese MUSE system.
To think, at the time of that video's recording, I was barely one year old. Hell I was probably still in my mom's gut waiting to get out. [editline]26th April 2016[/editline] Now here I am, about 23 years later, shitposting on Facepunch.
neck
Actually he looks like he's looking at the camera, prolly realizes he got caught rubbernecking, same for the lady with gigantic two tone sunglasses.

What the fuck a guy with the SS runes at 1:43
Videos like this make me wish I could travel back to some time in the late 20th century and just interact with people back then.
