"it inspires people"
this guy is fucking deluded
I don't disagree with Kevin. There are a lot of cases where people work hard and smart to pull themselves out of poverty.
Fucking Kevin is such a dick, not gonna lie though, miss seeing him on Dragon's Den Canada :v:
fucking amazing
my fathers worked his ass off for decades now and literally risks his life travelling and you don't see him in the top 1%
wonder fucking why
I don't disagree with Kevin. There are a lot of cases where people work hard and smart to pull themselves out of poverty.
The vast majority of those 3.5 billion do work hard. The vast majority will also die in poverty.
"And that's why, I'm out."
I don't disagree with Kevin. There are a lot of cases where people work hard and smart to pull themselves out of poverty.
there are far more cases where people work hard and smart and get fucking nothing
The vast majority of those 3.5 billion do work hard. The vast majority will also die in poverty.
Yeah, and it does suck and is terrible but I don't see how we will have a society without those problems unless we invent Star Trek style machines that can create food and water out of almost nothing.
Yeah, and it does suck and is terrible but I don't see how we will have a society without those problems unless we invent Star Trek style machines that can create food and water out of almost nothing.
saying "eh just work hard" isn't going to do shit to fix it and only causes resentment towards the 1% to grow among the rest of us
Yeah, and it does suck and is terrible but I don't see how we will have a society without those problems unless we invent Star Trek style machines that can create food and water out of almost nothing.
I think you completely missed the point. The very fact that hard and smart work isn't enough to get you out of poverty is proof that O'Leary was a fucking moron to say it was fantastic.
And this guy wants to defeat Trudeau in the next election. What a joke.
3.5 billion people in poverty do work hard everyday at not fucking dying
Yeah, and it does suck and is terrible but I don't see how we will have a society without those problems unless we invent Star Trek style machines that can create food and water out of almost nothing.
It's pretty fucking simple, make sure that the people who control the flow of money aren't able to make it all flow to themselves.
Over the last few decades we've had a big political push towards libertarianism because "rich people deserve to be rich because they've worked smart to make themselves rich"
That's what's leading to this huge wealth disparity. We've given the richest people the means to make themselves richer at the expense of everyone else and people seem surprised that lead to widespread global poverty. It's not the first time its happened, hell its happened countless times throughout history. But now the only way to fight back against it is through the governments of the world, and tons of people have been convinced that doing such a thing is "infringing freedoms"
this dude argument is so delusional and wacky that you literally cannot argue with him about the topic because no matter what he'll have the perfect comeback to anything you say, because he doesn't understand how actual society works. Doesn't matter how sane and rational and intelligent you are.
The only come back to something like this you can make and win is by releasing his tax forms or some shit and showing every bad thing he's done to get rich.
He's set himself up in his argument as some kind of inspirational hero of wealth, so the only real argument you can make is that if he gave a single shit about anyone but himself he'd never have said that and wouldn't say ignorant things.
Even the interviewer was speechless to what he said
I admire her response, probably the best way to react to that statement.
i say we kill them
lets put the 1% to the guillotine!
holy jesus that guy is so deluded though, what makes me sad is that a lot of people are of the same mindset as him, regardless of whether their poor or rich, I've seen people complain about how lazy people are and then talk about how rich they're going to be, when they're living in poverty as much as everyone else
Props to that anchor for not putting up with his delusion nonsense
I don't disagree with Kevin. There are a lot of cases where people work hard and smart to pull themselves out of poverty.
when people at my job (somewhat small) are barely making ends meet in shitty conditions when the owner of said company is making enough to own 2 houses and a beach house, a jaguar sports car, and has the balls to tell us we are not working hard enough when we are literally sweating and bleeding for barely any money for products that are making him easily 500-3K in profit per sale, yeah thats really fucking shitty to the poverty class who gave him the ability to even be that wealthy.
Kevin O'Leary is the Canadian equivalent of Donald Trump, so this isn't surprising at all.
I may not be impoverished, but I look up to the wealthy 1% and get inspired, that after working so hard, one day I too can be born into a family that's already immensely rich and be able to coast off of the wealth and influence of my parents and spend all my life with more money than I know what to do with.
he doesn't even understand the difference between those who can "work hard" or those who can't
people in the west can get valuable education and skills in addition to access to capital markets and information.
people like kevin made their wealth using infrastructure unavailable to people in rural zimbabwe (where steam locomotives had to be reintroduced due to the collapse of electrical infrastructure). services such as the internet and telephones, televisions, newspapers, etc are either unavailable or are scarce. road infrastructure is poor.
i mean even if a kenyan farmer worked really hard it would take years (assuming no wars, droughts, diseases, or the like) for him to even obtain living standards comparable to working class people in wealthy western countries. getting to kevins wealth is impossible
'if you work hard you're going to be rich one day'
yeah, just like my grandfather, he worked his ass off for all of his life and all he got was a broken as fuck back with not one, not two, but three very severe back hernias, requiring at least 10 years of sloggy surgery to get a chance at being able to do something with it again
and my grandfather is one of the many, and yet he's still relatively well off, and that's just in the netherlands alone
fucking deluded piece of shit prick
stupid bald bitch

I just gotta work harder in jamming that silver spoon in my mouth! One day I'll succeed, my friends, one day!
Oh wait.
I don't have socks.
kill and devour the rich
how to get rich fast: exploit other people so they do all the hard work and you reap all the profits
capitalism is a meritocracy, if the merit was how little you can give a shit about the people that work for you
after all, humans are just another resource
just bleed them dry first and then just replace them with someone else when they can't work anymore
"If you work hard you might be stinking rich one day"
Jesus Christ how deluded do you have to be?
In most Western countries, you can work hard and do well. Not be stinking rich, but live well.
Unfortunately that's not the case with most other parts of Planet Earth, which is what this guy was clearly talking about.
Good news my ass.
