I came across this, and I'm just blown away at how amazingly well done this looks (for a WIP), as well as how powerful that editor that came with SCII really is :buddy:
And yet still no custom models.
Wc3's Editor > SC2's Editor.
Derp, boxes.
Yay ff vii music! The SCII editor is actually quite insane in terms of versatility. There are even side scrolling beat-em-up maps available, soon to be released third person shooters, and now this!
Makes me really believe that Starcraft 2 has probably been the best release for the past few years, although I'm a bit of a Blizzard lover
To the above poster, the game just came out like 2 weeks ago, and this custom map/mod is only in extreme wip status, probably only being shown as a proof of concept. SC2's Editor > Wc3's Editor in my opinion.
Awesome. There should totally be a story mode and character building if the guy is serious about this.
Wow that was really well done...damn
That's fucking awesome.
Though seriously, no custom models?! Blasphemy.
Zerglings versus a Dark Templar? Really?
looks awesome, SC2 editor is very nice
Good god, i noticed it was done in FF7 style.
:gizz:

Oh yes with that 25MB file size and 5 maps limit, the need for approval from blizzard and your map could be grounded on copyright( like this map if it title is final fantasy) and other policies no drugs, sex, nationality, greed or anything deemed inappropriate.. No ability to host your own map instead or on lan. It so much more better then warcraft 3. It's more or less impossible to play maps that aren't among the most popular.Instead of the repeating across the screen like in the Warcraft 3 battle.net of maps.Region realm restrictions for players in and only one account. I really do hope they change these above mention things or their no point to how powerful the map editor is.
I would sympathize if this was Blizzard's first networked RTS with a modding community, but it's hard to understand why they would decide to throw away ten years of aforementioned incremental improvements to starcraft and warcraft 3's community features and implement a far worse system from scratch. Unless to have complete control on content and allow them to do mod fee system which they mention before so they could get a small large from it.
Image if you had this restriction in creating mods and maps for Half-life 2, Counter, Strike, Gary mod or etc?
I'm still waiting for a Starcraft 2 Wintermaul :colbert:
I don't know why, but I found that video hilarious.
That's pretty sweet, I might have to get SC2 even though I'm not into RTS
All of this can be countered with 1 statement. You don't have to upload your maps onto the official site, just upload the fucking .map file (or whatever it is, too lazy to check), they don't force you to upload to their shitty system.
Does that mean it basically works the same as in, I go to whatever website and download a map (I assume it doesn't have the 25mb and other restrictions) then when I host the map, others are able to join and auto-download it?
I haven't got the game yet as I am waiting for more custom maps to be made, I would like to know the answer to this question though if anyone could help please.
Ok that looks fucking amazing.

I expected some shitty FFVII remake with SC2's editor and with horrible custom models and all that, then I saw the 2xArtistic.
They need to create a Warcraft mod for SC2.
Also I love how DOTA already had a SC2 version of itself during the beta...couldn't even wait until the full release.
Holy shit
I'd fucking play this
This is what I've been waiting for in terms of StarCraft II's map editor competency:

This Final Fantasy mod is cool and it's a step in the right direction, but damn.
