[hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7sAtoQiz08[/hd] I can't get into UFC when they hype fights with circus stuff like this. I just can't take it seriously. Also, like someone in the Youtube comments said... it's the quiet ones you've got to worry about.
I don't follow fight sports, but on FP people often mention how popular and dominant Rhonda Rousey is, I thought she was bigger and in a "heavier" class. She's just 170cm and 60kg. Where are tall and strong 180-185cm women with 70-80kg ?
That's some WWE shit right there.

If watch her matches you would understand. Maybe shes just ahead of her time as a female fighter though.

Also Rousey is really petty for running up on her like that, what did she expect to happen? Fighters get payed extra for talking trash and causing drama, because it brings in more PPVs. Even Daniel Cormier came clean after beating Alexander Gustaffason in the post fight interview and said that all his trash talking was just kind of what the UFC expects now and he respected him as a fighter. I still think fights are credible though, Ronda really brings it to every fighter no matter if she hates them or not I think. You can't really fake getting the fucking shit knocked out of you, I mean I guess you could set it up for someone to knock you out in theory, but you are risking brain damage if you don't defend yourself from a clean knockout shot.

In fight sports usually the fighters in heavy weight classes and stuff get most of the media attention, so even people who don't follow the sport hear about them (Rock for example, Klitschko brothers...). I actually can't google info about the other weight classes for women. Are there even any other than Bantamweight and Feather weight ? It seem women are limited to only that, which is surprising for me, I see no reason for it.
First of all, the Rock isn't a fighter. He was a professional wrestler and now is an actor. Secondly, people knew about the Rock outside of wrestling because of his charisma, not his size. If people only payed attention to how big you were in WWF The Big Show would have been like the main face in that era. Thirdly, the way the UFC works is that the fighters who start getting wins, and can also talk some good smacktalk, get more media attention. It doesn't matter what weight class they are in. I think UFC fans and the people who run the UFC come from a background where people get much more excited about fighters with amazing martial arts and wrestling technique more than just sheer power and size. Hell, probably the most fucking ruthless division in the UFC right now is featherweight. The champ Demetrious Johnson is just so goddamn high level that every other fighter has to step their game up ridiculously high. On the case with Rousey, she is not dominant for her size. She is dominant and scary because her technique is so ruthless and fast, I mean people really underestimate just how scary she if they don't follow the sport. She is not just scary for her division and weight class. She does stuff not many other fighters can even do. That being said, another large aspect of Ronda's popularity is that she is kind of the poster girl now for Women in the MMA. I even think Ronda kind of created enough popularity for Women to actually start competing in the UFC. I mean I dont even think it was 5 years ago that a lot of people were against Women being in the UFC.
a big reason ronda rousey is famous because she pummels you to a pulp her signature technique is being a lightning bruiser and knocking the shit out of you before you can even react watch her fight vs bethe correia and observe the swift beatdown she delivers
Rousey has been dominant, but to anyone who's actually seen her fights it's obvious that the female UFC opponents are just sub par at the moment. There aren't enough good female fighters to make interesting fights.
Even though she can snap me in half... She's still hot as fuck.

Demetrious Johnson is the flyweight champ, and that division, unfortunately, is the most unpopular right now and will never get the real attention it deserves.

As seen in the video, she'll execute uchi matas and seoi nages, so easily, you could say it easy for her as blinking. Her judo experience allows her to do it from basically any angle.... EDIT: I mean look at the Nurmagomedov and the Magomedov. I put in the "THE" because for their opponents, they're basically killing robot figthers. Those guys have been kicking, punching, grappling and throwing since they were, what? 5? 6? There's even a fucking video of Nurma wrestling a GODDAMN BEAR when he was a kid. So, just as Ronda, if you attempt a takedown, they'll see it coming from a mile and will inmediately counter it or just punch you in the face so quickly you won't even notice it.
color me surprised, rousey just got knocked the fuck out with a roundhouse to the face didn't see that one coming
Holly knocked her the fuck out holy shit.
I feel like she was trying to beat her at her own game like she did to Bethe Correia. A little cocky.
I feel like she was trying to beat her at her own game like she did to Bethe Correia. A little cocky.
She tried to grapple twice, but Holly got out of both with relative ease, Holly pretty much decimated the fight. But you're right, Ronda was also way too fucking cocky.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT She got schooled bigtime! [editline]15th November 2015[/editline] What are the tags for GFY links? Damnit
If Ronda loses the rematch she HAS to fight cyborg. We live in a new world people.
[hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN0dxnU1mAw[/hd] The entire fight. 8 minutes long. Jesus christ, every punch Holly throws, EVERY punch is connected. She has literally *no* defense.
As early as the 4th minute Ronda didn't know where she is or what is going on.
I don't know what happened here. Rhonda always seemed to be pretty above it all and then punishing asshole attitude but here she seemed to be the opposite. I know very little about this sport so the next few lines are what I read from people who know a bit more. One of the reasons she was winning so much was because her opponents weren't on the same level as her. Here she was against someone who was actually a proper match and someone who prepared for her tactics/style. As an outsider I noticed her defense seemed to be pretty shit and she even moved a bit sloppy compared to Holm. I know Rhonda's previous fights were always short but she seemed to move more confident in those than here.

Thus, putting her in the dominant position which would in turn allow an easy armbar. Here, what happened is that Holm saw this, trained to bridge those gaps so as not to fall easily to her takedowns and armbars and blocked any attempt. In fact, look at the video above, minute 2.42. Notice how Holm side steps and puts a foot to make her fall down. However, the other way around, didn't work. Rousey didn't train for boxing properly, and yes, as you have said, she basically ate all the hands that were launched. She noticed this, and completely lost all confidence.
