If you think I'm gonna watch the guy who thought Man of Steel / Suicide Squad were unironically good complain about TLJ.. You're wrong
If you think I'm gonna watch the guy who thought BvS was unironically good complain about TLJ.. You're wrong
The man who called Suicide Squad an awesome movie
With the praise he gave The Force Awakens I'd imagine he'd like it. Not going to see the video because spoiler, but I'm surprised there is 10 things to find wrong from a SW fan like him.
Also the list so you don't have to suffer 10: The Plot Holes 9: Too many dropped plots from TFA 8: Humor and tone issues 7: [sp]Death of Phasma[/sp] 6: [sp]Death and Return of Leia as Superman[/sp] 5: [sp]Rey's Parents are Nobody[/sp] 4: Finn/Rose Subplot 3: [sp]Death of Snoke[/sp] 2: Luke's Legacy and Behavior 1: [sp]Luke Skywalker's death was dumb[/sp]
If you think I'm gonna watch the guy who thought BvS was unironically good complain about TLJ.. You're wrong
I thought he disliked it? Didn't he do a collaboration with Nostalgia Critic that basically just complaining about everything wrong with that movie? I'm not disagreeing with you tho. As a game critic, Joe's awesome. Not so much with movies.

Yeah he put up a review about it hating BvS. You're talking about Man of Steel or Justice League.
1: [sp]Luke Skywalker's death was dumb[/sp]
[sp]Luke went out in the best way possible. He reconnected with the Force to save the Resistance, so hope could spread through the galaxy again. And then, he became one with the Force, so it's not the last we've seen of him tbh[/sp]
5: [sp]Rey's Parents are Nobody[/sp]
I actually love this [sp]and I hope the third movie doesn't make it out to be a ruse on Kylo's part. I feel like part of the point was that Rey came from nothing special but is clearly a very special person even amongst force users.[/sp]
[sp]Luke went out in the best way possible. The fact that he kinda fell off then got back on and looked at the sun and passed away was a bit awkward. That's just nitpicking from me though, i have no problem with him dying in any case and it worked really well[/sp]

Collapsing fits[/sp]
Also the list so you don't have to suffer 10: The Plot Holes 9: Too many dropped plots from TFA 8: Humor and tone issues 7: [sp]Death of Phasma[/sp] 6: [sp]Death and Return of Leia as Superman[/sp] 5: [sp]Rey's Parents are Nobody[/sp] 4: Finn/Rose Subplot 3: [sp]Death of Snoke[/sp] 2: Luke's Legacy and Behavior 1: [sp]Luke Skywalker's death was dumb[/sp]
So most of his reasons to be pissed off are [sp]"why isn't this movie pandering to me with predictable plot, I wanted it to feed me obvious fan service, why did it do something novel and unpredictable"[/sp]
Some of those I agree with a little bit, mostly 10, 8 and 7, but the rest? Nah. Seriously I [sp]also love the indication that Rey's parents are virtual nobodies in the grand scheme of things.[/sp]
You guys actually believe Kylo? [sp]He was probably lying to get Rey on his side. Now I don't think Rey's parents are anyone special, but I think Kylo was lying about them just being junkers looking for money[/sp]
You guys actually believe Kylo? [sp]He was probably lying to get Rey on his side. Now I don't think Rey's parents are anyone special, but I think Kylo was lying about them just being junkers looking for money[/sp]
[sp]The funny thing is, Kylo turns around and literally uses the exact same gaslighting mechanism on Rey that Snoke uses on him. Like, I'm pretty sure it was intentional that Snoke tells Kylo "You're worthless, you'll never be anything like Darth Vader, take off that stupid mask" since those are all Ren's anxieties and fears, then Kylo tells Rey her parents are "nobody" and that they "sold her off for drinking money". It's pretty blatant manipulation[/sp]
If you think I'm gonna watch the guy who thought Man of Steel / Suicide Squad were unironically good complain about TLJ.. You're wrong
you would think this argument fallacy of invalidating all of someones points by referencing to another mistakes hes made would be dead by now. Im surprised
You guys actually believe Kylo? [sp]He was probably lying to get Rey on his side. Now I don't think Rey's parents are anyone special, but I think Kylo was lying about them just being junkers looking for money[/sp]
not only do they believe kylo (for some reason), they also parrot [sp]lukes death as being somehow good in the exact way the film describes it. just because the movie thinks it was a good send off doesn't mean you have to or that it is. it was stupid as all hell. some of the audience, including me, were laughing. the movie was often very embarrassingly bizarre.[/sp]
i feel like rian johnson was the right choice to direct the movie (it looked great a lot of times) but he really should have had a co-writer or something. i thought lawrence kasdan was co-writing the movie but apparently he didn't? looking back on TFA it feels like johnson basically discarded everything they were setting up and tried to be clever and subversive
not only do they believe kylo (for some reason), they also parrot [sp]lukes death as being somehow good in the exact way the film describes it. just because the movie thinks it was a good send off doesn't mean you have to or that it is. it was stupid as all hell. some of the audience, including me, were laughing. the movie was often very embarrassingly bizarre.[/sp]
[sp]I think his death was good because I think it is good, not because the movie told me it was. Though I think it should have been in Episode 9, not the middle of the story[/sp]
He went from loving it, to being meh on it, to not liking it to seemingly hating it in the space of a couple videos. And I just love the "Hey I am still a Star Wars fan, look at all the Star Wars memorial I have, that proves I am a fan!" at the start.
So again another one of his movie opinions/reviews that didn't need to be this long of a video. Joe should just cut to the chase instead of dragging out the review.
you would think this argument fallacy of invalidating all of someones points by referencing to another mistakes hes made would be dead by now. Im surprised
Mistake? lol what how is his personal opinion of liking them a "mistake" it clearly points to what he values in film and what he chooses to let slide and focus on, and i find his film reviews largely unimportant. It's almost like I watched those reviews and found his reasons for liking them shallow and fanboy-ish, just like the majority of his film reviews.

Maybe Kylo's lying, I don't know. But I still like the idea regardless.
You guys actually believe Kylo? [sp]He was probably lying to get Rey on his side. Now I don't think Rey's parents are anyone special, but I think Kylo was lying about them just being junkers looking for money[/sp]
I think that it's a very distinct possibility that Kylo is telling the truth, and it's also a possibility that he's lying. We don't have the information needed to know which it is, and that's good because it could be read as either that Kylo is gaslighting her or that he's legitimately trying to connect with her. It's an effective storytelling technique and if true will build a fantastic new theme for the movies in trying to get away from "this is all just one galactic family feud".
If you think I'm gonna watch the guy who thought Man of Steel / Suicide Squad were unironically good complain about TLJ..
?
they were posted less than 5 minutes apart, i would have assumed it was obvious that i skimmed the video just to see what his points were
Also the list so you don't have to suffer 10: The Plot Holes 9: Too many dropped plots from TFA 8: Humor and tone issues 7: [sp]Death of Phasma[/sp] 6: [sp]Death and Return of Leia as Superman[/sp] 5: [sp]Rey's Parents are Nobody[/sp] 4: Finn/Rose Subplot 3: [sp]Death of Snoke[/sp] 2: Luke's Legacy and Behavior 1: [sp]Luke Skywalker's death was dumb[/sp]
So he has the opinions of an average moron on the Internet who doesn't understand how storytelling works and just wants a movie that wanks off his nostalgia for roughly 2 hours. Colour me surprised.
not only do they believe kylo (for some reason), they also parrot [sp]lukes death as being somehow good in the exact way the film describes it. just because the movie thinks it was a good send off doesn't mean you have to or that it is. it was stupid as all hell. some of the audience, including me, were laughing. the movie was often very embarrassingly bizarre.[/sp]
yeah i was saying something like this
So he has the opinions of an average moron on the Internet who doesn't understand how storytelling works and just wants a movie that wanks off his nostalgia for roughly 2 hours. Colour me surprised.
i'm not a big star wars fan. i have no nostalgia for them, i didn't see the originals as a kid. but this movie was fucking bad. good try trying to paint all the haters with a big 'pissed off fans' brush.
