Latest video from the Infinity team, nice to know its not vaporware.
Ignore the lacking of textures on the water, he hasn't implemented that yet.
Also, this is far from finished. So It still looks a little "rigid" if you know what i mean.
If you want it with music (for those who get bored)

Those mountains remind me of Just Cause 2
It would be nice with some trees and scenery, guess they haven't added that yet

I watched the video. And the mountains and I thought "Hey reminds me of JC2". Read the first comment and was blown away.
It is true, the mountains do look a little like just cause. As to the tree's, i think he is trying to find a way to put them in without loosing performance yet still look good.
This game is looking better and better.
Yeah, too bad we won't be seeing a release for another year or two, and that's if we are lucky.

they also look like those huge bumps in the earth

Yes, well. That's kind of what mountains are.
What's with the patchwork thing going on?
Yeah I'm noticing some patterns of squares where it looks like the world doesnt seam together properly.
The engine itself won't be vapourware, but I fear that Infinity as such will be unless they will get a dedicated team for the gamecontent.
:gizz:
That is all.
I think it's pretty poor that the snow just stops at a perfect line along the mountains. Really gives away how some of the terrain is being generated.

I have a feeling it's still being fine-tuned. I'm sure that it will be prettied up before release.

The guy clearly stated that the "real game" development will start once he has the engine ready.
I think when this game comes out my hard drive will slowly fill up with screenshots.
Is this a full retail game or indie?
Is this a full retail game or indie?
Indie.
Is this a full retail game or indie?
About as indie as it can get.
There is practically a single active developer, the coder who works on the engines now. He stated that he wants to do the coding stages on his own.
Interestingly, the models are supposedly going to be mostly volunteer submitted. They already have a great number of good models.
There will hopefully be a monthly fee though, they had a poll up and the vast majority voted for a monthly fee.

Why, I hate games with monthly fee.
Server running costs, It wont be more than about 5 to 15 pounds (10 - 28 USD) a month, or he might have it as an annual fee. Also, i think he deserves some sort of income from this, he has already spend the better part of 5 years working on this.
Why, I hate games with monthly fee.
Monthly fee leads to:
- More content being released post-launch
- More/faster patches
- No micro-transaction bullshit, AKA pay to win
- Way stabler and better servers

If it was from a major company, then yeah, it would be a little stupid, but as stated above, pretty much a single person is making the entire thing, if he makes a great game he deserves the money more than anyone.
I understand that. But I don't want to end up paying 240 pounds after 2 years of gameplay.

I think when this game comes out my hard drive will very fucking quickly fill up with screenshots.
And same for the General Ingame Screenshots thread.

"I have found a continent which looks like a penis"
"I have found a start cluster which looks like a penis"
