damn, this is looking good. i have very low expectations when it comes to games based on Alien
This game is looking really good. I love the way the Xeno stalks around the area. It's terrifying how sudden and quick it's movements are.
I love the sounds. The animations seem relatively decent. Though, a lot of the Alien animations are the same. Also, is the Alien not killable? Enough flame thrower, and it seems like we also get bullets, should kill it. That's the whole reason why I thought this was going to be unique, with no weapons in the first place. Guess that changed.
The textures seem really low. Hopefully that's because it's the Xbox version. I also like how they made the A icon for the xbox controller a different icon to match the games overall 1970's feel.
It does have a suspenseful atmosphere to it, but it seems like the Alien is .. Too obtrusive. Maybe it's just because of the challenge. I don't know, but I think I'd like to be soaking in the atmosphere, while having no idea when an Alien will come searching for me. I think that'd make things a bit more eerie.
Looks okay so far, 6/10.
I think the Survival Mode is more "in-your-face" than the campaign.
This looks just too great, I wonder if my almost extreme fear for games like this is worth testing just to get to play this masterpiece.

Did you not see the "Open Steam Store" at the bottom of the menu? Also, the steam achievement pop ups in the bottom corner.

He was probably just playing with a controller.

I think judging by the video and how the final version looks from this guy playing it. A solid 8/10 if not 9/10
it doesn't have the classic motion tracking sound, that shit always puts me on edge.

It looks like the weapons just scares and/or holds it off for a bit. Also, on the loading screen it said enemies will react to your flashlight which implies there is more than just the alien. There was another thing about survivors just wanting to survive and maybe they can/will turn on you?

That's pretty bad if it is on PC. Hopefully the rest of the game makes up for it. I'll have to wait for honest reviews. As should everyone else, imo.

Really? you don't find that impressive? the lighting looks amazing to me.

Yes, I'd also like it to be more "rare". I.E, you know it's around, but you never know quite where or when it'll show up. In the way it occurs in the video, it seems like it'd quickly become more annoying than scary. But as you said, it's probably because he's clearly running it in some kind of challenge mode.

Perhaps a lot of it is just nitpicking. I do love the lighting, but in a game based primarily on corridor areas, they could have really improved on the textures and graphical needs. That's why I thought it was on the Xbox. I know it's just a 720p video, but regardless. A lot of the textures on some things look muddy and washed out. That's just me and my opinion though.
Visually, it looks amazing.

Well, I can think of four possible factors responsible for that
A) The system requirements are quite low, and it's a port from the previous generation of consoles
B) We have no idea at what graphical settings the player is running it with
C) It's YouTube. Visual fidelity is going to be lacking
D) His recording software is garbage, or he hasn't configured it properly
I personally think it looks really good, apart from it being blurry, which is probably due to either YouTube or his recording
Man this guy must not be an experienced gamer
"I think I'm out of ammo now" Does he not notice the flamethrower ammo counter in the bottom left corner?
And he doesn't even bother to grab all the stuff in the starting room
This guy's initial habit of just standing up walking through areas drove me nuts. When I play this game, I'm probably going to spend the vast majority of it crouched, slinking from cover to cover and avoiding lights like Electronic Arts avoids decency.
God, this is the horror game I always wanted. It's amazing that after such a long pedigree of mediocre/embarrassing games, this game looks to be the one swinging for the fences and making something of itself. This'll probably be the best thing to happen to "Alien" in a long damn time. Like, decades probably.

No, it's all nitpicking. The game looks great.

It is not the military motion tracker which is why it doesnt have the sound

Why do you say there is no dynamic lighting when the flamethrower is lighting up the surrounding area? And you seem to be so focused on that one edge but if you look around you would see anti aliasing everywhere? It could be just that the edge is supposed to look like this, or maybe the video has just shitty quality.

Possible mod in the future? ;)
Looks like a mode which would get bland fairly quickly to be honest. hopefully the story mode consists of more than just this kind of gameplay
The game looks nice, and a pretty scary, like the Alien games always should have been. The guy playing it isn't very good at demonstrating the gameplay features however, he keeps starting over and over, while doing the same mistakes.

It's not made by or for the developers. They just let him demo the game to make a video on his own channel. I do admit that he was fumbling his way through but at least it wasn't some scripted demo.

This mode's goal is to finish the few objectives with the Alien constantly on your ass in the shortest time possible, so slinking around might not be the best strategy.
everytime he fails a little part of me dies when he doesn't bother to pick up anything in the starting chamber
Watching this guy is painful. He doesn't pick stuff up, he follows the fucking alien and seems obsessed with staring at it, he 'hides' by pressing his face into the wall, and he doesn't even look at anything, he just blunders through the rooms. It doesn't help that the entire thing feels like an act, like he's trying to be another 'wacky' youtuber who makes dumb mistakes for you to laugh at.
He is right about one thing, there should be a few more shadows and there's places that look a little weird if you're looking for it. I feel like Doom 3 has more realistic lighting effects, but this has way better ambient lighting, if that makes sense
And he doesn't even bother to grab all the stuff in the starting room
Serioiusly. There is nothing more i hate in lets plays than this.
I don't get how this guy can spot 2 pixels at 900m in DayZ and identify it as a player, know how to accurately find distances using mildots, and hold a 5:1 KD in squad firefights, but can't find his ammo counter or the supplies in the starting room. This was just too silly to watch.
Was pretty spooky though.
