I have been asked by a few people to come on here and introduce myself since a lot of viewers want to get the word out on these games that some of you might not be familiar with. In anycase, I play mainly Digital Combat Simulation A-10C warthog and Flaming Cliffs 3. Some of the more popular videos are here, if you are interested, then do get them, they are lots of fun (After you read the 700 page flight manual that is...) The serious side of us: The less serious side of us:
Normally people don't like seeing new users having their first post being their own youtube videos. I believe in your case that's fine. Which game (Digital Combat Simulation or Flaming Cliffs 3) do you suggest for a beginner?
Still an inadvertent way of advertising.
Yeah, I figured that it might seem that way, but I'm not making any money off of these or anything like that. Instead we like to invite people to join our games and have fun together. If you want to start simple, then I would suggest Flaming Cliffs 3. It's basically what BF3 is to Arma. The FC3 module has the F-15C, A-10A, SU-25/T, SU-27, SU-33, MIG-29/G/S Now the full DCS products like the A-10c, ka-50 blackshark, and the P-51D are the fully clickable cockpits and are the highest grade of accuracy available. In DCS World, you play with the full DCS modules, and the FC3 simple modules online together. So things tend to get a bit hectic if you are not on comms, and most servers run some kind of dedicated VOIP (TS, Vent). It is basically on the same level if not higher than Falcon 4.0/BMS. It comes with a 600-700 page manual that you really do need to skim through, and training to get the hang of it will take months. But that's to get proficient in all it's systems. You can still learn the basics and have fun with that. Thankfully the A-10 is an easy aircraft to handle. It's just slow as hell... :( The multiplayer servers that are up have a mix of missions, and the population varies, from anything to a low pop of 2-4, to about 20 people in a server at times, about 2-3 such servers almost in that pop range at all times. PS: Apologies again if it seemed a bit cocky as a first post.
i think i've played Project Reality with you before the name DeadCon or Gooze sound familiar?
I have stopped playing PR a long while ago, so I can't exactly remember, but yes, I was on a lot, so you are probably correct. Hardcore clan and all that.
usually we'd ban users if they sign up just to advertise their YouTube channel but this is some neat stuff. you might get more interest from people in the games section, though. also that one-winged recovery was neat. I could never play games like this, so technically demanding
i've been playing a-10 and fc3 for a month or so with my mate. we're alright at completing missions and surviving but we're not very cohesive; it's like we're flying as two separate units really any tips for formation flying?
Awesome! I've been following you for a while man. Right now I've only got Flaming Cliffs 3, A-10C, and BlackShark 1. Having one helluva time with all of them.
Hey! I'm one of your subscribers! Love the recent vid where you shot down blues. Shit was hilarious. Keep up the good vids!
the only tip for formation i can give you is to keep practicing. Its a skill you will master over time is all.
Saying Hello!
Hello Ralfidude!
Tomorrow I will be completing a video edit on an ILS approach in bad dynamic weather, no visibility, 10 knot winds... It took 5 tries till I got the right shot... I never died, but... Popped my tires 4 times coming in seeing the runway only 10 feet from me. It's nuts!
Shit this makes me want to get out my yoke and peddles and install a flight sim.
Welcome to Facepunch. We didn't all just sign up to advertise/promote/sell. I'm sure there is plenty of sub forums which you could find where they love this sort of thing. For me I couldn't actually stop watching these, they were so cool and the one where you blew up your own wing had me in tears XD
I also meant to ask you Ralfi, where exactly did you learn all that aviation-lingo?
watching a lot of hud videos, reading a lot of official air force documents, studying up on other material gathered by ex fighter pilots who also fly this sim. Its an acquired skill for those who are interested.
I've played on that Hardcore server you were a member of. I can honestly say I'm glad Hardcore is no more, shitty clan full of shitty elitist members. [editline]19th January 2013[/editline] Element-X_IV was propably the biggest ass-kisser of yours. [editline]19th January 2013[/editline] But yeah DCS is pretty cool and I play it almost as much as you do. But I'm on a break right now. Sometimes, I get this wierd desire to watch shitload of HUD vids, read a shitton of information on aviation and read A-10 manuals, but those are just like brief periods, I'm not as dedicated as you.
This is the ILS I was talking about... Damn that took a while. It really could have been nicer but the wind kept changing on me and pushing me off ILS course.
Might suggest you go and ask http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=123775 too.
No one cares, Ralfidude. Now go make more videos for our enjoyment, slave! I enjoy the Air Combat videos, but I dabbled in Flight Sims since the early 90's and still play Falcon BMS, so I'm biased and hard wired to enjoy anything to do with Aircraft
I know what you mean... I'm wrapping up another Air Combat USA preview. It was such an awesome experience to do that in real life, that I will definitely do it again.
I watched every one of those. Really quite interesting. The whole time I was thinking about how much of a treat this will be with the Oculus
Are those the goggles that let you see in 3D, as in the newest one that came out?
I really like these videos. I'm looking forward to the day that I get a decent rig again, so I can get into some DCS and FC3.
I think it's about time this gets a good bumpin'!
Fuel level is Master Caution. I remember that video was posted some time back You guys play BMS? I have DCS A-10 but I don't have trackIR and the way the cockpit is angled makes it extremely difficult to use so I don't bother with it
How do you even begin to learn to play games as complicated as this? I'm watching this video with virgin eyes to this and it seems so complex
How do you even begin to learn to play games as complicated as this? I'm watching this video with virgin eyes to this and it seems so complex
Just join up with a guy who knows, and have him tell you what to do. Then play again and ask what to do next if you're stumped. After about 2 hours you'll be golden on how to go from Cold & Dark to flying and shooting, with more time for the more complicated stuff. It's not as complicated as it looks
