Cool thing about this, is that they borrowed the last functioning Tiger I tank from the Bovington tank museum, and it's the first time a real Tiger I has appeared in a movie. Looks really good.
half expected to see something furry related
Shia LaBeouf looks weird with a mustache.
I wonder who is the guy with the mustache, doesn't look famous.
Weren't German tanks generally better then American ones? I dunno how they'll pull this off...
I'm not a tank expert so I'm genuinely asking.

Generally yes, but that doesn't mean that all of them won fights against Shermans.
Jon Bernthal, woo. Hope he gets a decent bit of screen time and not just, "some crewman that isn't Brad Pitt."
Still seems very odd for a Sherman to bounce a shell from a Tiger from such a short distance :v:
The Shermans were called 'Tommy Cookers' by the Germans for a reason, they were known for being very fragile against german weaponry and would very often catch on fire if hit by a penetrating shot.
Movie is looking pretty cool though, I'll probably watch it when it's out
Movie looks really good. I kept waiting for this song to play for some reason, though.

There was one sherman who bounced a Jagdtiger shell off it's turret before.

so slow motion grainy scenes of people being shot/shooting with sad music and forced tears
welcome to war film #2314
This looks like it can be a very well done WW2 movie if done right
The early shermans were quite fragile, yes, but the shermans that appeared from D-day forward were shermans only in name and basic shape. Past that they were very different machines.

Generally but German tanks were few in number in comparison to American and Soviet tanks, and late war German tanks were generally made with sticks and mud and put together by slaves, so their quality was very lacking. Not to mention that late war tank crews were extremely inexperienced and poorly trained.
In the book "Tigers in the Mud", the author talks about a late-war crew crewing a JagdTiger and how it knocked itself out because the driver couldn't figure out the gear box, and destroyed the engine. Another one turned its rear to the enemy and got knocked out, rather than just putting the tank in reverse.

Looks like the shell only hit a spare roadwheel or some spare treads on the front of the tank. And the angle it got hit at, it would have bounced anyways. If it was a dead on hit, the Sherman would be toast.
Brad Pitt is just too perfect looking to make this feel real. Tom Hanks worked so well in Saving Private Ryan because he was a normal man, a school teacher, thrown into hell - and he looked like one, he sounded like one. The characters in this trailer look like what they are, soft, over made up actors.

In early 1944 a solution for that problem was fielded though.

Actually they were still pretty bad at that time. Only around July 1944 did Shermans with slightly more firepower start popping up.
Training Day and End of Watch were fantastic movies. This look incredible, really cannot wait for it.
Gritty WW1 / WW2 movies always profoundly affect me. Definitely looking forward to this.
Cant wait to see Jon bernthal rub his head on the big screen!
Shia is going to ruin this for me I think. Because I will just expect him to go "NONONONOONONONONONONON"

Yeah, I don't know why but I can't take any movie with Brad Pitt these days that seriously.
I don't get all the hate towards Shia. He was pretty bad in Transformers, but I thought he played his part really well in Lawless.

He looks weird in a movie, period. I just can't get used to him ever.
