These pudgy skin and bone arms aren't really doing it for me anymore.
That's pretty awesome, however I imagine you would crush a lot of stuff, maybe your children.
Here's another super cool one I found, this time it's a WHOLE arm!

that's old but still badass, can't wait until we get actual neuro controlled prosthetics.
that's amazing
I've seen more fine-tuned prototypes, but OP's version has a pretty damn compact design.
Also I doubt it actually has more strength than a human equivalent, even if imposed gross motor skills make it look differently.

I sadly see two problems with that, taking someone like the guy above that hadn't used a limb for 30 years, his body would have forgotten stuff like this on a subconcious level and he'd have to relearn it which would take years, and the delay seems insanely long. Would be really good for controlling robots though.
It doesn't just function well, it also looks natural and incredibly cool. I actually cringed when he set his thumb in a different position because I kept thinking the thing was just a glove and he just broke a bone or something.
I was thinking that because it looks wholesomely like metal it would be heavy, but then I remembered that so is an actual arm. Neat!

Yeah, the OP video is incredibly low tech compared to what we have in testing nowadays, but that might be a good thing actually, it does the job well enough to be functional, and is probably 10 if not 20 times cheaper than the other two in this thread.
Far cooler looking than most prostheses.
It's so weird seeing him do that but at the same time it's incredibly fascinating.
It looks cool, but I can't really see any application for it beyond people who lost an arm.
The entire idea of a Deus Ex-style future is kinda silly, to be honest.
Is it bad that I am kind of jealous having a natural arm ..

That is the application, and it could help thousands of people

I mean yeah I agree, it's just articles or videos like this are usually followed up with, "I wish I had a robot arm" or "meat and flesh just got an upgrade."

Yes. Your arm is much better.

This happens to me every time I see stuff like this, I have to then convince myself that I'm being ridiculous.
It's nice these prosthetics are getting better and better but I think growing your arm in a lab and then get it transplanted will be the future.

Nothing wrong with that if the arm worked just like a real one and could crush people's skulls.
but that's going to take a bit longer...

The movement of it was still pretty clunky to be honest, no replacement for a real arm at this point in time.

I just don't see the point in wasting a perfectly good meaty arm for one that does the exact same thing, only with a few bells and whistles that serve no useful, day-to-day function (at least, not any that would offset the cost of surgery, grafting and innoculations/medications to make sure it accepts.)
it's not there yet at all, but we are very far
but the potential for growth is too big to stop the current momentum we have. Once we have artists and writers using it, we're there IMHO.

Ok, so maybe not the ones in the game, but what if they come up with something better ?
Being much stronger alone would be pretty damn useful...
He didn't ask for this.
That's incredible!
Even when he's doing those every day activities at the end, it looks shockingly natural.
DARPA had a cool cntract out on prosthetics a while back, I don't know how it's progressing today but this is where it was at back in '05.

The bit with the beer bottle really remind me of the trailer (i.e. where Jensen holds the glass). Was expecting it to crack slightly.
that doorbell noise at the end is the same as my friends
also imagine him just sitting at the bar using his badass robot arm to do shit
fuck yeah
robot parts
I was just watching him pour that beer, all casual, just a day to day thing, and then I thought "Holy shit, this is a man with an entirely synthetic right arm, and it's actually functioning pretty damn well."
You guys probably hear this a ton, but we really are living the future here.
