Oh noes Adam Sessler's opinion deviates from mine
*flips internet over*
wow
didn't buy into the hype but surprising anyway
- returns fun into multiplayer
That's a bit bold statement, isn't it?
Before you take my post the bad way, I played the beta, huge fun and it deserves praise but I wouldn't overdo it.
i like giantbomb's approach in that jeff isn't releasing a number score yet until the actual release of the game because reviewing a multiplayer only game in a closed environment is a bit silly.
Feels like a polished and expanded version of Blacklight Retribution (free) with some elements from Brink.
It's a good game but don't go into it expecting the best mech combat ever.

i think adam stated that fps games weren't really his thing, EVER, in a past interview, so whatever floats his boat.
I have to admit, I'm super impressed with Titanfall. It's exceeded all my expectations.
i dont really like sessler's review style. it's quite old-fashioned. it tends to be very wordy and sensationalist and claims things very objectively. i know all reviews are only subjective opinions but the way he says stuff like "this returns fun to multiplayer" is just unnecessarily bold for my liking. it's just like, how are you even going to explain something that broad and subjective. yeh you can say 'this bit is satisfying, this bit is fun' but at the end of the day everyone is going to find a game like this very different
honestly i'd rather watch a total biscuit video and i don't even like that guy. i think i'd get more out of a video like that though because it has less red-tape professionalism. i kind-of understand what sort of a guy tb is and what he likes and can therefore gauge whether i'd like a game or not based on what he says and the footage he shows
maybe therefore my issue is just with video reviews for games in general. the footage shown is always really vague and edited into really fast cuts to maintain the viewer's attention and there's barely any actually useful and informative information you can fit into a 5-10 minute video

i think part of my issue with sessler is he says this about half of the genres in existence but then he goes on to review them anyway and claim things that are either inaccurate or uninformed like, for example, that they "redefine" their genre

From my experience in the beta, I wouldn't say it feels much of anything like Blacklight. The map design is completely different, titans are a far more common sight than hardsuits, really just doesn't feel the same at all beyond the bare basics of shooting, and even then the guns don't recoil as much in Titanfall.

you mean cod not blacklight right? because there's absolutely no similarities between blacklight and titanfall, especially when shooting guns in blacklight nets you a tremendous amount of recoil whereas in titanfall there's barely any recoil.
Is Idris Elba voicing in this? That voice at 7:20 sounds familiar, and he was in a Call of Duty game a few years back...

I like Adam Sessler's reviews because they don't rely on details but instead focus on the general gameplay and game itself. He also tackles games that either aren't his genre or outside his field of comfort. Something you cannot say for Total Biscuit.
TB is great if you want to know if the game is a good PC game, loosely, but if I want to know if the game is good at all, I'd rather Adam.

I wouldn't exactly call that a good thing though. You wouldn't call Top Gear to review a truck. Liking and being familiar with a genre makes you better informed of what is good, what is bad, and what is the norm, which in the end presents a more accurate review of it.
