I am glad that they showed the officers that actually followed orders and didn't be brutal instead of giving all the officers a bad reputation.
That guy sounds amazingly pissed off.
This guy has some sense. Nobody ever speaks up about this, I'm glad a big media outlet is saying something.
Very cool how he takes the time to mention that the vast majority of police officers there were doing their jobs and that this was the result of a few power-tripping officers. Far too often the police are painted as one entity when it really isn't.

Quite unsurprisingly, Fox is siding with the police.
This guy is amazing and its the first time I've seen him. This makes him look extremely sharp, and his tone is very powerful. Very high quality reporting.
If I was a cop during police brutality I would risk my job to stop it, because that kind of atittude is amazing on a job application.
Here's the guy doing most of the power tripping.

Photographer got a picture of his badge after he maced all the women for no reason, Anon found some info on him and are looking for more.

In terms of journalists on TV today this guy is easily one of the best when it comes to getting across a point.
He's like Keith Olbermann without the crazy.
The people should be allowed to fight back if police are doing this illegally, since with no reason for arrest, they're attacking them, tackling them to the ground etc, should be justified for self defense.

They can. An American court can rule self defense in the case of excessive violence.
But they rarely do.

I don't know what exactly you took away from that to make you think they were 'defending' them. Especially the part where they say "The police had them behind the orange net when a supervisor walks up and sprays them and walks away leaving the police with the fences unsure of what happened or what to do and that it's being investigated."
And they bring up a completely reasonable points. They never explicitly blame the Protesters or the Police. It sounds like they are both at fault to me now. "Their are instances where individual cops stepped over the line. I'm not saying all the cops are responsible and I'm not saying all the protesters provoked any of this response" etc.
Obviously when the Police behave badly it's worse than protesters because we pay and have a certain degree of expectation that Police Officers will defend and protect us.

Yeah but then they'd be arrested and the department would try and make them look bad.

I'm going to stay in areas with small crime rates and small police forces, mainly suburbs from now on
American police has a picture drawn of them globally as fucking assholes.
These reasons make me want to join the police force and correct this kind of thing.
I am glad like others have said that this guy does not generalize, rather than saying all police or all of X he actually specifies that it's only a few corrupt power-mad officers doing this.
I've seem him on with Jon Stewart, glad to see this guy speaking out on this seems like a well-informed guy.

I would be too.

"We'll have a fair and balanced debate in a little bit." Ha.
Holy shit. Are the protests still going on? Seeing this makes me want to join my fellow Americans and rally against injustice.

Yeah, this isn't going away any time soon.
Reminds me unmistakably of Ed Murrow.
