not sure if you were paying attention, but RAM was a tribute to the beginnings of house and edm, collaborating with old figureheads of said movement

beyond that if they announced an 'alive' branded tour it would mean:
1: they're doing a tour again. nobody gives a shit about a touring dry spell if they've been building a new set that actually warrants a tour this whole time. RAM was neat but it's not "going to a daft punk concert" neat
2: they'd be revisiting the styling of the Alive set (which makes sense given the original was '97 and the revisit was 2007, this'd be the another 10 year anniversary revisit)
2.5: albums and singles that aren't Alive or therein aren't an indicator of what style they'd be going for in an Alive set. If/when it DOES happen, it's going to be thick electronic rock funky goodness
this teaser was a hype concept even if it's fake. we're barely into the second week of the year, we've got time for a real announcement to potentially surface

Why in the damn world would they call a video "ALIVE 2017" that contains shockingly similar imagery to the '07 album, and also have it on the 20th year anniversary of the original, if they weren't going to use any of the previous music at all. Daft Punk's "ALIVE" as one hell of the reputation attached with it, it'd be whack to use it completely out of it's preexisting context.
If they were just doing a regular tour, there'd be completely unnecessary hype by even calling it ALIVE, and I'll be damned if they aren't aware of that.
Secondly, even if their most recent album is a different genre + dai's whole post above me, that doesn't somehow mean they aren't allowed to use previous music that they are [I]much more known for[/I] in a tour, let's be serious about that. Not to say RAM isn't recognizable, but I'm willing to bet more people know DP for house then for RAM.

Apparently they had an entire house album that was pretty much finished prior to RAM, it's one of the reasons that gap between A07 and RAM was so large.

Why do people dislike RAM so much? Is it because it doesn't sound like Homework or Discovery? Must artists always confine themselves to what they began with so they can conform to your shallow tastes?
I like RAM as much as Homework, Moroder is one of my favorites, if not the, of the album

I do have to give some lenience, it's not a big party album like others, and I have to assume [I]a lot [/I]of people stopped things like Giorgio well before the music hits, due to it looking like a 9 minute 'storytime with cool grandpa' session
Daft Punk's Alive 2007 didn't sound like "Human After All except played live", they revisited their whole discography and made it sound new. There's no reason to think Alive 2017 would just be RAM, but live.
The same thing happened with Justice's second album. I thought Audio Video Disco was meh, yet I absolutely loved Justice's live show right after AVD, it merged what I loved about their first album with the catchy parts of their new songs.
