If the auto-unsub thing is real, then its scummy as fuck by YT. On the flip side, I really want to know how much it costs to run all of YT and their servers. I know adblock has been on the rise and "Trending" is probably the response to that.
youtube is owned by google, and google is a business with the goal of making more money. it shouldn't be a surprise that, in the age of adblockers, they're hiding advertisements (See: Native Advertising) in their "Trending" tab. scummy? yeah. wrong? no. it's their website, you're agreeing to their terms when you use it.
That time of the month again I guess. Time for another Youtube drama that's forgotten about within a week

I'll speak for myself when I say that I'd allow really simple sidebar ads if it generates revenue to keep the site and the content creators afloat, but pop-ups and malware are just way to common in ads nowadays that I can't take that risk.
I know one thing about YT recently is that if youre not actively watching all uploads, you won't get front page alerts about any of their videos. My whole front page is just Retsupurae recently, all old videos I've seen, just because I've been watching a few of them recently
That time of the month again I guess. Time for another Youtube drama that's forgotten about within a week
Can you blame them? This is their job they're worried about. When YouTube starts fucking YouTubers, kicking up a fuss is their only means of fighting back.
people seem to treat websites as public property just because you can go to them for free on the internet. if you're uploading videos to youtube and trying to make money off of the ad revenue, you're still using YouTube's service. you are bound to their terms regardless. i feel for ethan and hila, but it's not really something they can fight against i think.
I stopped trusting youtube when my likes/dislikes on comments and videos would end up never appearing, 'recommended videos' having no view count on them on the sidebar. Its a bunch of shade man
Seeing this video made me realize what the "activity" thing that youtube is talking about, basically it looks at what you're watching currently and starts shoving content on to your homepage that are similar to that content. So I could be watching a bunch of car videos and then all of a sudden bunch of car videos bury all the other content i watch and then i have to actively go search for other content to change the seed. So it's up to the user to basically to remember that they're subed to a channel then go that channel to get their content because its not on their homepage to just click on. This fucks over lots of channels because most of the time people are sub to so many different kinds of channels it hard to remember. I can't even count the amount of time i've had to search for filthy franks channel because he doesn't upload often enough and yt interprets this as nobody is watching his videos so they must not be interested.

And when something is so ubiquitous and almost monopolized like youtube you could argue that it actually should almost act more like public property, or be broken apart.
I've never had a channel auto-unsubbed or a video not show up.
Corporations wanting to silence someone who speaks out, more at 11

This guy complains about youtube so much it makes me wonder why he still uses the thing. I don't understand why he thinks Youtube owes him so much.
This guy complains about youtube so much it makes me wonder why he still uses the fuckin thing. I don't understand why he thinks Youtube owes him so much.
Because it's his job, and most of his friend's jobs? [editline]e[/editline] And also pretty much the only method of watching online videos which is a massive entertainment industry that I'm pretty sure overpowers TV at this point?
And the viable alternatives are:
There are none; so the wise thing would be stop biting the hand that feeds. He should be thankful Youtube found a way to generate a source of income for "content creators" aka lazy people who don't want to get actual jobs. And don't even think of saying "but editing videos is hard"
I really should have cleared my position on editing. I can see how actual editors could get really upset at me over that. But h3h3's editing is not that kind of editing, I'm sorry. His intro is the most editing he's ever done.

This guy complains about youtube so much it makes me wonder why he still uses the fuckin thing. I don't understand why he thinks Youtube owes him so much.
so where else is he gonna go to make money? and he makes youtube money through things like ad revenue. so yes, youtube 'owes him' the smallest bit of respect, to at least know what the fuck they're trying to do.
Doing youtube videos is a real job.
I disagree. (User was banned for this post ("Threadshitting" - Bradyns))

And don't even think of saying "but editing videos is hard"
if its so easy, why isn't everyone doing it? because it can be an actual job, where you spend 8+ hours a day making videos, editing them, advertising, etc. not to mention you make scraps unless you're insanely popular. but I'm sure you don't think that being a professional video game player is a legitimate career either.
I disagree.
By what virtue is it not a real job?
scummy? yeah. wrong? no. it's their website, you're agreeing to their terms when you use it.
Do everyone get to use that excuse? "It's ours and we're always right." Whatever they think about what they do themselves. People will have their own opinion on what's wrong or not. Often justifiably.
I've had one of my accounts sub to a random channel with one video.
By what virtue is it not a real job?
Because it's a hobby. Not a career. You're not being contracted OR being employed. It is not a job.
Because it's a hobby. Not a career. You're not being contracted OR being employed. It is not a job.
Being self employed is still having a job. Also, hobbies can be jobs. Woodworking for instance is both a hobby and a job.
Because it's a hobby. Not a career. You're not being contracted OR being employed. It is not a job.
They fufill a desire for income how is that not a job
