For the fellow producers among us, I did all this in Ableton, using only Nexus and Sylenth1 for the synths. I got the drum samples from the Vengeance packs, of course. It would mean the world to me if you guys'd support a starting musician by buying my track, you can get it here: iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/no-surprises/id554103531?i=554103537&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/No-Surprises/dp/B008Z4IQ04 CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/houcemate3 BONUS TRACK: If house music isn't your thing, I got you this, it's more of an alternative hip-hop styled track. You can also check me out here: Facebook: http://facebook.com/Houcemate Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/Houcemate I got a lot more stuff up on Soundcloud including a few Bon Iver remixes for their remix competition, so check that out as well. Lastly I'd like to apologize for shamelessly advertising myself here, but I need all the exposure I can get! Thanks in advance for everything!
i like a bit of gay cheesy house and i like this. well done. you've got a sale
I love you
nexus is a wonderful synth. ever thought about trying z3ta+ as well?
sounds alright, shame about the vengeance usage
Real men use FL studio. Also it sounds a bit generic... oh wait, vengeance was used.. oh .. oh ok. And I swear I've heard this lead somewhere before.
Real men use FL studio.
What. All DAWs are equal to one another, it's comes down to personal preference in the end, that is all. I used to work with FL Studio for years actually, but I wanted to try something new because the mixer for one is total shite, in my opinion.
Also it sounds a bit generic... oh wait, vengeance was used.. oh .. oh ok

sounds alright, shame about the vengeance usage
I don't get why Vengeance sample packs are so frowned upon. I understand that everyone uses them pretty much everywhere but what's so bad about that? Too mainstream for you? Too unoriginal or lazy? Popular house music isn't exactly known for its originality. Not trying to make up excuses for making a generic sounding track, because that was the entire idea; to make a dance track that would appeal to the largest possible crowd, including myself. I use Vengeance samples because they are good samples, period, and quite frankly I have yet to come across a better sample pack for house and dance music. Feel free to link me to one though. Plus, I bet if I didn't mention the fact that I got my samples from Vengeance packs, you wouldn't have even guessed.
dude chill out and just take the criticism.
I was just trying to make a point man. Getting your track shot down like that just because you used a popular sample pack for the percussion and drums seems a bit unfair. But other than that I don't really disagree on it being generic though.
Ok you have to let me know what the name of the lead synth is in the first song. It seems everyone uses it with the same progression. Everyone uses vengeance's drum samples.
I just feel like you railed on them too much. All you had to say was "I use Vengeance samples because they are good samples and haven't heard better ones". It just came off as aggressive, you know?
Yeah might have went a bit overboard there but I'm growing a bit tired of this Vengeance-bandwagon thing. Kinda weird to hate on something just because it's used a lot, but I can see what they mean. It's no like that I have to use it just because it's a popular choice. It's more a matter of taste I guess.

I liked them both. Once I have more money, I might just throw a bit of cash your way for 'em

OP you should post this in the Musicians Gig Room section, you're more likely to get some exposure and constructive criticism there. I liked both of the tracks by the way.
Plus, I bet if I didn't mention the fact that I got my samples from Vengeance packs, you wouldn't have even guessed.
to somebody who has spent way more time in a DAW than should be healthy, there are a lot of samples I can recognize right off the bat. I might not be able to name them right away, but they're very distinct. I'm immediately disgusted when I hear default FL Studio samples in a song, for example.
http://www.facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=315 you should post it here.
only got ~40 seconds into the first song, too generic for me
Liked it a lot! Subbed on youtube and I'm going to buy both of your songs when I actually have some money.
