Whats up Punchers!
How many of you guys are recording your Gmod antics?
I've given it a go recently, but it seems to me that friendly players (with a decent sense of humour) are few and far between on most public servers.
So I'm calling all Face Punchin' YouTubers that might fancy getting together and showing me how it's done!
If you want to get to know me a little better before posting, my first vid can be found here:

Don't be shy, let me know if you want to get together and just record some Gmod hilariousness.
No preference on game mode. English speaking only and mic'd up of course! No age preference as long as you have a clean(ish) sense of humour.
Cheers!

You really need to either get a better rig or lower your graphic settings for recording. Maybe try out different recording tools.
Watching a video that stutters like that is not fun to watch.

Stuttering is the wrong word, what I actually mean is the framerate, at some points it feels like it's dropping below 30.

On the other hand it was quite amusing to watch.

Good to know. FPS is around 100 'till I start recording with FRAPS (then slows to 30). Perhaps there is better software that doesn't bomb the frame rate so hard?

OBS would be your best bet.
If you have an Nvidia GPU from 600 series and above you can use also ShadowPlay.
You can also give DXtory a go.
When recording, it is best to record to a hard drive that isn't used while gaming. As in a secondary HDD just for recording or a HDD other than HDD that has the game you are currently playing on.
You also should check how fast your HDD can write.
Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'm going to have a look at recording to a secondary HDD and have a look at the other software mentioned.

Came here to recommend this, I had the same issue with programs like FRAPS as well. A friend recommended Dxtory and its very easy on the rig. Its a bit of a bitch to set up though but worth it in the end.
I'd be down for some Dark RP chaos with ya'
Definitely get a second HDD for recording, I would also recommend upgrading your current rig.

Nvidia Shadowplay is great

That 10 minute pre-recording feature is a godsend
I'm interested and sent you a friend request on steam.

Cheers Xieneus, I'll add you up later.

Just a heads up, if you are going to use that, don't count on it, if geforce experience decides to break, show does shadowplay, and, in my experience, it tends to do that a lot.
I'd join to just have fun?

Sounds good to me. Add me up on Steam
Hahahah you are a cheeky bastard aren't ya?
Your steam link doesn't work under your name on here

Haha! Fixed... I can't believe people were still adding me after all this time without the correct URL... Brilliant!
If you are going to make videos, quality over quantity please.

Speaking from experience?
Not a fan of watching people play Gmod but you do have a nice voice, i'll give you that.
Exept for when you are screaming. Not really a big fan of the whole ear raping. But i guess that is something you can fix in editing so it isn't that loud?

Haha... Tell that to PewDiePie!
But on a serious note, I could normalise the vocals to ensure the 'shouts' are more compressed in the next vid.
C'mon guys! I'm looking for more people to record with...
Pick a server and lets do it.
IIRC GMod has a built in recording feature that exports to WEBM format, which YouTube accepts. I remember hearing about the quality but I don't recall whether the quality was good or bad.

Last I checked the actual encoding is lackluster.
That said, Source itself has a recording feature that lets you render video out at arbitrary framerates, so you could do 8x SSAA or whatever and render that out at seamless 60FPS.

Definitely not reccommended for making a gmod lets play
Drop fraps, get OBS or if you're willing to pay DXTory. Set the game you're recording to either 1280x720 or 1920x1080 when you're recording that, since that's the resolution Youtube loves. Not sure if I'm the type to judge this kind of video since I don't really watch screamy shouty LP type stuff. All I'm going to say is your video did have energy, and then the intro ended.

Well yeah, if you're planning on doing realtime quick 'n easy gameplay with an unedited voice recorded over it. But if you plan on using an external recorder like Audacity to record your voice seperate, you may as well go down the demo/srcrec pipeline IMO.

This makes things incredibly difficult unless you refrain from doing live commentary (talking while you play)
