I would love to make more commentary videos in the future, but I need some criticism so that I can improve for next time. One thing I definitely will do is try to be more entertaining, I think I may be too quiet and boring. (Truth is I'm just tired)
This is pretty good, keep practicing so you can evolve better and better
Look into 'audio ducking'. It's something you do in the editing process, that'll lower the game volume whenever you speak. I use it in my videos aswell. Also need to speak up, and try not to mumble. Keep your voice volume even though. And if you're serious about this, invest in a high quality microphone. Like this. No need to render in 1080p. There'll be no clear difference in quality between 1080p and 720p on YouTube. Also, be careful about copyright. Overall, I liked it. Keep it up!
I understand the idea of "audio ducking" but is it possible to create in Sony Vegas? Because it's the only editing program I have. I'm not sure I should invest in a better microphone yet, this one has served me fine, and I think I can keep using it for while. Thanks for the tip on 1080p and 720p as well, that's sure to help me get things done quicker, and with less space used. In terms of copyright, I'm actually quite paranoid as to which songs I can actually use. Therefore, I mostly use songs from games, which are less likely to be flagged for copyright issues. Something else is that I get severe frame rate drops in Fraps occasionally, do you know of any reason for this? I had to scrap some footage so I could keep it as smooth as possible. (It's also the reason for that silly message at the end) Lastly, I need to either have a serious clean up of my own hard drive, or get an external. I'm more inclined to do the latter, it would be useful to store a lot of my Fraps clips in there. Thanks for the feedback, I'll definitely take these into consideration.
Make your voice louder
Yes, it is. There are two ways. Buy Vegas Pro Production Assistant for 140+ euros or do it manually with Automation. Again, I would suggest getting a higher quality microphone. That buzz noise on your current one is not exactly subtle and it can get annoying. Either work something out in the editing process or get a new microphone. TGN has a good guide on copyright here. Check it out. If you're getting frame drops, make sure your hardware is powerful enough and record the footage on an external hdd with high speeds.

That guide on copyright is a crock of shit
That guide on copyright is a crock of shit
either it's actually true or the guy believes that the law is so hypersenstive that "HOW FUCKI NG DARE YOU use 1 SECOND OF A SONG WE ARE GOING TO SUE YOU FOR A QUADRILLION BAJILLION DOLARRS!!!!!!!" then again it being hyper sensitive and actually like that wouldn't surprise me.
From the guidebook thing.
Bad: Cut-Scenes or Commercial Music in Games Remove cinematic cut-scenes and do not play licensed commercial music in your videos, even if they are in the game.
Will youtube really flip a shit if you try to get partnered with them and you have game cutscenes on your channel? I know of bucketloads of channels that have a sponsership and are for games, making this rule seem slightly invalid...
its called fair use
I think you need to speak a bit louder, maybe with more confidence. But I thought the video got off to a slow start but was kind of funny. Those cut to the face bits can be funny but it started to feel like you were over doing them after a while.
well done, you made me search for my hitman CD again

I'll definitely try to be more confident, thing is I'm actually tired and a little ill at the moment. Future videos will probably be more interesting. Those cut to face things are done because I just found 47's expression to be quite amusing during certain moments. But I'll cut down on them in future if you think I should do less of them. This isn't relevant to your post, but I have a little anecdote as to why I wanted to start this. Quite often when I play games, I find myself talking, commenting on the situations, and I thought, maybe I should record these comments. Problem is, when I'm being recorded, I seem to go all quiet. I speak so much more when it's just me and the game.

I speak so much more when it's just me and the game.
I've recently started doing this sort of thing and felt similarly about it, what helped me was to wear a pair of closed earphones which block out sound from outside the game. That way I could just say what was going on in my head out loud and I wasn't quite so concious of my voice, which helped boost the sound and confidence in my voice a little.
Dont use Fraps, use Dxtory with Larith Lossless Codec, it records the games audio in one stream and your voice in the other so you can boost only one stream if you'd like. You also have the opinion to play in 1080p but the output file compressed to 720p making it easier for the drive to write it. You can also only record at a certain FPS, lets say your game runs 60 fps stable, you can record the file in 30fps but the game you are playing will still be 60fps but the recording 30. And YouTube converts everything to 30 fps either way. [editline]15th April 2012[/editline] And you can also write on 2 HDDs at the same time, one array on one HDD and the other array on the other which relives stress from both HDDs so you can have better quality.
I love the intro music!
