I know there's a lot of hate for steampunk here, but the musicians themselves are really talented.
My girlfriend showed me this on Spotify awhile back and got me hooked on them. The two other songs that I love most besides Honeybee is Brass Goggles and Me & My Baby (Saturday Night). The range of voices that the main singer can do is pretty amazing and it draws me in. If the band interests you, then you should check out some of their live performances. They really nailed their robotic like movements and they stick close to the story that they made up for their characters. For example, the two guys (not the one with the curly hair) are brothers. They're both robots but one is more advanced than the other. Because of this, one of them might malfunction during the performance, he might skip or something. The one that does all the range of voices is a more advanced robot than the others. I don't like the guy with the curly hair much at all. He just doesn't give his preformance the life it deserves like the other robots do. They actually replaced curly hair guy with the drummer that played at their performances and the guy has a sweet mustache. Mustache guy actually puts effort into his act while on stage.
He moves like he was animated by a nexus modder
Hate for steampunk on FP? What? When did that happen?
The steampunk is pretty nice there, not comparable to some others who just glue cogs everywhere.
I just love when they start sidestepping.
Someone sent me one of their videos a while ago and i listen to them all the time now, all of their stuff is great. This is one of my favourite songs, even though there's only a live version available it's still really good: The Spine (The one in the middle) has an amazing voice.

I don't really know much about steampunk, but the song was nice.
The high shutter speed helps sell the animated effect. There are many times where the movement looked really artificial as to be from a robot. Loved the song too.

I found out there was a steampunk group here in my city, Curitiba, Brazil. It's kind of a big city, but people here rarely know about this kind of stuff, so I went to check it out. I felt sorry for them because they were just like this video describes, what a shame. Only one of the few was acceptable.
Are you sure these aren't just really clever robots from like, disney or something? They way they move is really unsettling. It's like I'm going through it's a small world again, except with better music.
the way spine moves his face and eyebrows and body is pretty interesting
I really like Honeybee, but I prefer one of their live performances of it.
Absolutely love this band. I've been listening to them for about a year or so now, and they remain one of my favorite bands. One of my favorite parts is watching them grow. Musically, they just get better and better. Watching them grow in popularity is awesome. And the best part? Every time they update, it's a MASSIVE jump in quality in the outfits, and makeup. Here's where they started: and here's where they're at now: And hell, that's not even current. Has yet to be fully shown off, but they all have new outfits, Spine has a new spine, and Rabbit is a girl now, to match her portayer's transition into being a woman herself. Absolutely great band. I've been practicing my singing with their songs for a long, long time.
Really digging these guys. so much character.
I'm a big fan of Captain Albert Alexander personally.
I'm a bit surprised no one has mentioned this song yet, it was the first one i heard:
And hell, that's not even current.
I had no idea Rabbit was being changed to a girl now, that's seems like something that might change the music/band overall quite a lot unless it's just a different appearance.
Her portrayer, Bunny, has been openly trans for a long time, and presumably she's finally ready to bring that across in her performance.
Some might be wondering where the character Rabbit is in the comic teaser image above... Well Rabbit is actually in there! He's the automaton girl. You see, Rabbit is now going to be a female robot instead of a male robot. This gender change will be reflected in our live shows going forward and you can expect to see the changes starting this year in 2014. There will be a transition period in our live shows where the female Rabbit character design is developed, and then, like a lot of things in our act, will organically change as the act progresses: Costume, makeup; the whole deal. It'll be an abrupt change for some fans for sure, but you can rest easy knowing that the Rabbit character isn't going anywhere. He's simply becoming a she. We're all progressively minded here in Steam Powered Giraffe, and we hope the change is taken as softly as when Hatchworth or Rabbit got a new jacket, or when The Spine had a mustache installed on him that one time for one show, or when he grew giant stegosaurus spines out of his back. No big deal right? Well, maybe those are hard comparisons to this instance, but I'd personally like to think it's no big deal. And that's the collective viewpoint in the band. It's a step forward for us and those of you who know a bit about the band will know that we support LGBT+ rights in our personal lives. For all our differences, we all the same and nothing relating to stuff like this makes anyone in the world different than anyone else. We're all human. While our act is not specifically focusing on these issues, we do like to be progressive and show that we are accepting of everyone and that we welcome the differences that make us all human and beautiful.
If you hunt around the website, you can find a picture of Rabbit in her new look. The wig is certainly uh...interesting, but maybe it'll be replaced with something more natural. As for what she sounds like, do you remember the singing giraffe from the Rihanna cover? That was Bunny's voice.

Is the singing in the Diamonds cover mostly the Spine/David? It's easy to tell the deeper sounding parts are him, but what about like at about 1:35? I don't remember hearing him sing like that before if it is him, i already thought his range of vocals was pretty amazing but if that is him it's even better than i thought (assuming it's not edited)

It sounds like he's kind of struggling a little bit with the tenor parts, since it's a lot softer than his baritone.
I was expecting to some crazy 1:1 scale functioning steam punk giraffe. This is however more enjoyable in the long run.
I love SPG and have loved them for quite a while
I've known about these guys for a while they are pretty awesome. I love that they all went to mime school to learn how to play the part of a robot so well.

I really like their music but i haven't really looked into the band themselves, much. Here's another song i quite like, their live stuff is great: I like Rabbits voice as well, but it'll probably be different if Rabbit is being changed to a female robot now.
Hate for steampunk on FP? What? When did that happen?
There was a mod here who had a steampunk wedding. I don't remember if we ripped on him, or were happy for him
This song this song this song- The Spine's solo is fantastic As for Bunny, she's a talented vocalist and that won't change with therapy
Automatonic Electronic Harmonics is one of my favourite songs they've done. In a few of their songs they don't act like Robots very much (as in the lyrics and what they say), but in that and Brass Goggles it's the theme of the song, which i like: I prefer their more 'serious' stuff really. I haven't been able to find the new pictures of Rabbit but i hope they keep the hat, at least.
I haven't been able to find the new pictures of Rabbit but i hope they keep the hat, at least.
This is what I found on their site http://www.flickr.com/photos/trekkiebeth/sets/72157639698435544/

If it wasn't for that makeup there would be nothing to suggest that is Rabbit. While looking for pictures of the new costumes i found this which someone had done: [t]http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/242/1/d/steam_powered_giraffe_rabbit_costume_by_antoinettegiulia-d5je1va.jpg[/t] Something like this would of been pretty good. It still looks like Rabbit, just female.
Hatchworth's design has only gotten cooler
