Your pun was so bad I could call you Darude one.
stop with the puns guys you'll start a sandstorm
Out of curiosity, could anyone explain to me the sudden resurge in popularity with this song?
It was hella popular a few years ago, but then it just kinda died down and faded into obscurity. Then I saw that "Sandstorm Meets Metal" video, and suddenly it seems Sandstorm is popular again.
I mean I'm not complaining, in my opinion it is a very good song. I'm just curious. Should we expect "Bodies" to suddenly become popular again, soon, too? :v:

If SaltyBet popularizes a meme based on Bodies then yeah, we should.

It's surge in popularity recently was because of Dota 2's TI4 Afterparty where he DJed and was streamed on Twitch
My friend legitimately pronounced Darude as Dah-roo-day for like a solid year.
The reason the song has made such a comeback is because of League of Legends streamers playing it a lot from what I heard.
It was good, but honestly it doesn't feel the same with the added sounds.
Its a twitch thing.
The funny thing is that Darude found out about the jokes and the trolling and actually showed up at Dreamhack as a result:
That, or maybe he was just paid to play it without being aware of the whole gag. But the fact that he just pushed the play button and walked around with the camera kind of seems to show that he knew it was a popular joke.

That's what's awesome about it though. It feels a bit different and more "industrial'

Galil and Tec9 CSGO Sandstorm skins probably helped.
this sounds better than the actual song
Sounds like some shit you'd hear in Doom.
I love it.

That's not how you pronounce it?
That's not how you pronounce it?
I always thought it was "duh-rood"
That's not how you pronounce it?
Well it started off with him calling himself "Da Rude Boy" which eventually got shortened to "Darude", so you'd pronounce it like da-rood
like u guys dont even know how 2 twitch

this is what caused it. not some fuckin dota shit
Oh god I was reminded of this TF2 map

What caused it was Dreamhack playing it very often during breaks (they played all sorts of weird stuff over the breaks, I've seen Brodyquest and some Russian New Year's celebration song), and every time they played it, even before it was a meme, people would ask what song it was. That's where the "song name?" came from. Over time it became a joke, the organizers played it more and more often, the commenters became self aware, it became a thing. For Dreamhack Winter 2013, the whole thing was getting really big, so the Organizers arranged for Darude to come and play the thing live.
Blaming DOTA 2 or League on it wouldn't be correct, as these two plus SC2 were the prime attractions in Dreamhack. In fact, when Darude came on stage it was an SC2 commenter presenting it.

Actually, it was the SC2 stage it was played on, and it was right before the grand final for it, too
