For anyone who can see this, presumably in america: And for everyone else, for whom SyFy have - for some reason - blocked the video, there's this: http://www.cinemablend.com/television/Expanse-Trailer-Space-Sex-Even-Cooler-Than-You-Thought-69488.html I'm not familiar with the novel it's based on, but the trailer is impressive - if not just because of the apparently high production values.
Y'know, for a syfy thing it actually does look pretty decent. Took me a minute but I think the woman at 1:13 voices a quarian admiral in Mass Effect?

It will be good and immediately cancelled.
It will be good and immediately cancelled.
Undoubtedly! But I'm gonna pretend I haven't given up all hope in SyFy being massively shit, and look forward to it. Those spaceship sets look fantastic, which is apparently enough for me :v:
Looks like it could be good

It looks like it might be another drama in space kind of thing, worked for BSG but otherwise ehh. Character drama only works when your characters are actually interesting and that's where most syfy shows fall short these days.
I've read the books, and from this preview it looks like they may be following them. Hopefully, it'll be as good as the novels are.
I also hear captain bailey's voice as well.
There was a guy who sounded familiar and I figured it would be him considering Sci-Fi used his voice-actor in battlestar ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Hogan_%28Canadian_actor%29 ) and he did VERY well, but the guy in the trailer they showed speaking at the end of that little segment didn't look too much like him, though I suppose it could be angle/makeup, but I don't think it's him.
After bsg was finished, syfy has been impossibly shitty.
I'm a huge, huge fan of the book series. Leviathan Wakes was absolutely fucking spectacular and every sci-fi fan should buy it without a second thought. Naturally, I have complete faith that SyFy can fuck this up. But, still...imagine it if did even a mediocre job of sticking to the books. There were a couple of shots that look like an extremely authentic Rocinante interior...and what looks like an exterior shot with Martian Navy colors and a PDC. Also, a fleeting shot of at least one Gratuitous Space Battle. That stuff tells me they may not have completely eviscerated the source material and shit out another World War Z. I know the authors worked with the screenwriters on the adaptation, it's only 10 episodes, and they are spending a shitton of money on it. SyFy is betting big on this, and I'm pretty damn excited.
After bsg was finished, syfy has been impossibly shitty.
warehouse 13 was actually pretty boss despite the production budget being pocket lint and a piece of string
I just watched Z nation on netflix over the weekend. Was pretty corny and stupid but over all I enjoyed it. It had its moments.
I'm cautiously optimistic for it. I really hope it does them justice. Leviathan Wakes is a fucking masterpiece of Space-Opera.
I like shows like this, but whenever people try to put this "earth is the paradise everyone wants" thing into a televised show, it almost always comes off as shit. Mostly, it just fuckes up at "people can't go to earth because "reasons".
zero g fucking and space fedoras
SyFy's Ascension is pretty good.
warehouse 13 was actually pretty boss despite the production budget being pocket lint and a piece of string
I also enjoyed Eureka, from start to finish. Some dumb things happen, for sure, but I still thought the main character was fun.
Season 1 finished now. Anyone else find the Earth scenes extremely boring? I can see how they are related to the overall plot, but the scenes themselves just drag on with characters I don't care about. (very minor spoilers) [sp]I mean, one of the first scenes with the lead on Earth shows her being a total fucking racist against the belters, and torturing one of them. I just had to watch a 2 minute scene of her walking into some office, opening a drawer and pick up 3 pencils. What the fuck[/sp]

I just wish they'd make politics more interesting all GoT style, by making it all crazy, instead of more of the usual and what feels like side quests tbh. More rocinante pls less racist old lady being really terrible
Episode 4 was some of the best Sci-fi I've seen in years, shame Earth side is so boring. I skimmed through some of leviathan Wakes (the book) and it seems to be pretty much from Holden and Miller's point of view? So why they have to have such a large chunk of every episode dedicated to the old women is beyond me. In any case I'm gonna go read all the books when I get the chance.
Avasarala plays a large role in the second book, they likely introduced her early to stretch out the first season. I'm not a fan of her character in the show tbh, I understand they couldn't exactly replicate her book persona considering her sailor's mouth but they could have still kept the snarky comebacks. In the show, she seems to just play the "backstabber getting revenge" character rather than how she was written in the second book. Maybe that'll change idk Not a fan of Holden's character either, but I think that's more to do with the show's seemingly more serious tone. I love the choice of actor for Miller though, he's a good fit for the role. Can't wait until the show reaches the third book's arc, definitely gonna be interesting to see what they do with a lot of the concepts portrayed in it ([sp]specifically Bull's arc, paralyzed badass operating a mech sounds difficult to translate to film and I'm curious to see how much they deviate from that[/sp])

He gets so much of it right.
I was kinda hoping for some actual comedy here and there to seperate it from the bleakness, the b/w filter also gets real annoying. It's an ok show, it's nothing amazing
