He's a Navy Seal, they aren't supposed to be funny. They have the personality of folding chairs.
Even Don Shipley is hit or miss. I guess if you were in the military you get that kind of humor and references but as a civilian, it goes right over my head.

That might have less to do with them collectively not having personalities and more to do with them not being a comedy troupe.
