The Lord has returned
Sorry, J_Hat, this thread came first. :bullshit:
Great video and a wonderful return from Mandalore, though. Game seems absolutely ridiculous
Son of a bitch, how did I miss it
This game was just plain wasted potential. I'd love to see a modern Warhammer 40K game where you play as Tau. I'm just tired of seeing everything about Space Marines.
surprised he didn't mention the voice talent they got for the game. 2:50 is Tom Baker and 20:40 is BRIAN BLESSED. i'm sure there were other big names too
I love Mandalore so much.
He is just so great with comedic timing and delivery.
I just wish he would stop teasing my dick with Age of Mythology music every few videos and review it already.
It's quiet

He put a picture of Startopia up in his earlier videos in regard to stuff that he was considering covering.
I'm still waiting ;~;
I enjoyed this game. I don't remember running into as many issues as he did, not on the PS2 any way. The boarding-action levels were a heck of a lot of fun.
his next video is absolutely not Vangers. not at all.
I played this when it came out on PS2 and tried it much later on PC. The PC controls are absolutely abysmal, even with the autoaim turned on, but there is a lot to be said about how it's an FPS that somewhat accurately depicts the 40k universe. My conspiracy theory for why the game got rave reviews on the PS2 despite being mediocre at best is because it was one of the first PS2 games to support online gameplay.
This was actually my first connection with W40k when I was young.
It made me hate the tau.
On the bright side, this game essentially created the Fire Warrior book, which was actually really good from what I understand.
I wish that WH40K wasn't almost exclusively strategy games. Don't get me wrong, I love them to death, but wrecking shit in Space Marine was extremely fun, and the multiplayer was good too. It seemed like THQ were really the only ones that really did anything with the license. Is it a licensing issue? Is that why we haven't seen a good variety of developers and genres for WH40K games?

Not much good considering nothing can be heard

It can't be a license issue, considering how many games using either of the Warham licenses are made by tiny indie studios. It must be that developers are wary of stepping out of the genres that tabletop Warhammer fans presumably intrinsically like. THQ and Streum On, of course, are known for making weird and risky decisions, so it makes sense that they'd reach for the casual and core fans over the core and hardcore fans.

I'd love to see a bloodborne style game where you play as an Eldar aspect Warrior stranded behind enemy lines, or even marooned on a demon world.
Fighting Space marines/Chaos marines as an Eldar would work so well within that "genre", as you would constantly be taking on tough, hard-hitting, opponents that you would have to out-manoeuvre to defeat.
Plus the 40k universe is swarming with eldritch abominations, alien monsters, mechanical behemoths, and demonic horrors that would make for amazing boss fights- and the lore is so hilariously grim-dark that it even carries a similar tone to the kind of games i'm thinking of.
But honestly I just want to see more 40k games where I can just wander around warhammer environments and take in the sights and sounds of the 41st millennium. Strategy games are great and all, I love DOW, but nothing beats the feeling i got wandering around the ForgeWorld between massacring orks, or exploring the derelict innards of the various amalgamated starships in space hulk.

Spacehulk: Deathwing is a really fun FPS game, though light on content. Made by the same folks behind E.Y.E
It absolutely nails the visuals and audios of the WH40K universe. I can't praise the art team enough. The gameplay great; weapons feel powerful, cutting through the genestealer hordes. You can kill xenos by running at them and bashing them with your armor.

I remember it was a mess during launch, with weird game design choices, specifically on the progression system which made a lot of the game aspects un-fun. How much has it changed since then?
Man I don't remember the sounds being THAT bad when I played it on the PS2, maybe turning off that sound effects option really did fuck it completely?
The progression system has variants now including permanency and there's a third more weapons than there were.
I wasn't much into Spacehulk either when I played before they revamped it either. I get what they were going for but it just wasn't fun to play the game since it wasn't what I wanted it to be. The game was all about playing it safe, risk management, and coordination while I just wanted to be a terminator and slay tyranids
they're also re-revamping it with enhanced edition (totally not vaporware guys even though they missed the date and there hasn't been a word since) with weapon and armor customization.

The Space Hulk games have always been tactical shooters, why weren't you researching what you were buying?
It have same sounds quality as Squad Command on PSP, no less :v:
On the topic of space hulk, do not consider playing it seriously until the enhanced edition patch comes out.
The performance is nothing short of a disaster

I knew the old games were really hard and tactical, and I can enjoy that, but I wasn't expecting the new game to be a game of minimizing damage and spreading out my teleports and medkits to survive until the end.
I guess I was expecting a game where I could avoid damage, not one where I was supposed to minimize it and control it. There were all these neat weapons but I was better off using the standard storm bolter to snipe enemies out of their attack range

What the fuck would have made this game any different? That's just wishful thinking.
