Christ that's a lot of police cars.

The game is pretty fun on consoles. Can't really speak for PC though.

The general consensus is that it's an alright open-world game but nothing amazing, and that it was rushed to release. But the PC port has a lot of inherent problems that are really bringing its reputation down.

It looks pretty rough and unfinished even if you put the port issues aside. I wouldn't get it on any platform tbh.

people are allowed to like things
people are allowed to like things
"It's good" is a different statement than "I like it" just fyi

From a technical/programming standpoint it's a mess. It having a supposedly good story and music doesn't really negate that fact
So guys is it still worth buying? I liked the first two games, and I've been anticipating the third one since it's reveal, but after all I've heard about it i'm not so sure anymore.
If the story actually is good as people say you might as well wait for a sale. It's not multiplayer so its not like you have to worry about a falling game population or anything. Also the patchable fixes will probably roll out by the time its on sale as well.

Depends, but if you liked the first game I don't think there's a lot this game could do to bring your ire.
Supposedly it still has a good story, it just also has a bunch of technical issues which Mafia 1 certainly weren't free of either.
It has a very well written story, and it's voice acting and motion capture/animation are great, actually great.
The bulk of the open world though? Kinda meh/shit tier in a lot of ways. They didn't flush out the world. At all.
You basically just have rackets and targets in the open world. There's nothing else.
The story itself is good, but whether it's good enough, we'll have to see as I play on wards.

Everyone is praising the developers for the great music but in the end, all they did was licensing a lot of popular tracks.
Looking at the sounddesign from a critical standpoint, it's also not very good.
Headshot sounds have a really long fade-in before you actually hear anything, that way, you hear the loud head popping almost a second after it actually happened.
Pedestriants and NPCs repeat their lines over and over and over again, I hardly hear any variation during the gunfights. You never know how far someone is away from you, I hear lines from the
citizens like they are right next to me, yet they are on the other side of the road, then we have a script
sequence with 2 people arguring, yet you hear NOTHING.
The voiceacting on the other is superb, yes, but since you are most of the times in an open world with uninspired mission where you don't even get a proper cutscene to introduce you to the next mission, you hardly come to appreciate it.
I snuck up on faceless guard #56232 as he went to the bathroom to take a piss.... After about 45 seconds of continuous pissing he started moving from side to side, letting his stream spray all over the floor and walls before aiming for the bowl again.
There are deliberate sequences like that and yet you're stuck wearing the same green jacket and boots for entirety of the game?

Don't buy it right now. It'll be worth a buy down the line when it's on sale.
I'm enjoying it but it's not without its issues for sure. The optimization is pretty shit being the biggest issue in my opinion. The story is really enjoyable though, it is definitely what is keeping me playing.

It's genuinely quite a good story
i thought it seemed like an okay game, not anything to boast about though

If you can stomach the tired "flashback interview" approach... It just feels like a cheap method of stringing your narrative together.
I know it's possible to skip the cutscenes, but, so far, half of these segments feel like filler and the other half would have been WAY MORE COOL to be able to experience them first-hand in game.

Sounds like how the story is done in Mafia I
