what is with the persons recording? did they just combine a bunch of 5 second recordings together? everything just keeps repeating what happened 2 seconds before, for every 5 seconds.
It's weird, but the sound is consistent. I'd guess some form of encoding error.

It looks like a smaller show so it would be safer to have the huge celebrity behind glass so he doesn't get hit with a bottle and sue the venue?

If it's a small venue its probably so that the sound of the drumset doesn't overpower everything else on stage.
Otherwise the drummer would have to "play quietly"; conversely the guitars and vocals are all amplified so the volume level is controllable.
