if I've learned anything from being an RTS fan for nearly two decades, it's to never trust an in-engine trailer
but i still find myself being real hype
also the bayoneto bot was sick
Those mech designs are fucking cool
Strandbeest machinegun carriage??
Dieselpunk mecha RTS??
Sign me the fuck UP.
Looks amazing but I'm gonna hold judgement until I see actual gameplay.
Definitely piqued my interest though.
Oh so it's basically a game about this

Jakub Różalski is the artist
Like Sine Mora, I'm going to be buying this game just for the artstyle, regardless of how good the gameplay is.
Damn, I'm not a fan of RTS game, I would kill for a FPS game in that universe...

He also did the art for a board game called Scythe. I wonder if this is part of the same IP or just the same art.

It's set in the same universe as Scythe.
Giving me great Leviathan vibes (good book btw)
This makes me want a Ring of Red sequel but that will never happen because nobody on earth knows what that game is.
I DIG IT

Fite me son, that game does need a sequel, hard. Even if story makes no goddamn sense, but that makes it even better. Also the weird distance and aim gambling mechanic.
This is the coolest fucking game I've heard about for the last few years.
If this plays anything remotely like company of heroes its already a winner.
There's more creativity in this trailer alone than in some recently announced AAA titles.
I hope it would play more like Men of War, especially with appearance of having a lower unit count than most RTS games.
men of war was capable of having a particularly high unit count wasn't it?
I really liked the way that series played too, but something about the ease of functionality in control with COH is something i really appreciate to this day.
If i recall correctly though men of war had an extensive loadout feature for individual units. Super cool.
It's an RTS game that is being released on consoles.
That should give you a hint that this is going to be dead in the water.
Scythe is a great boardgame. the polacks are strong as hell in it.
a dieselpunk RTS featuring giant mecha
has someone been reading my christmas list or something.

Halo Wars was a fine console RTS tho?

You're not the only one!

(it's a video that takes 25 minutes to say some stuff about smart casting, 18 unit selection limit, attack move is default, along with some other small benefits like hud space)

I always thought that game would be infinitely better if it played more like a more in depth front mission. Give me all the AFWs and their infantry on one tile based map, and make the strategy more about your AFWs and infantry covering each other's weaknesses. The biggest weakness of that game was how long everything took. The animations made each battle take 10 times longer than they really needed to.
But, on topic, I really like the diesel-punk artstyle, but I'm cautious of most new RTSes having a sustainable multiplayer, the genre doesn't seem as popular as it was in the early 2000s.

The Command and Conquer series had various console releases, though. With C&C 3 being a really good RTS with a console release,
I'm getting strong CoH vibes from the trailer, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.
"jawhol, standby for jotunfall!"
look like fun though.
